In this article the several steps involved in how to prepare for a proposal budget are laid
out and explained in detail. The UCI Office of Research cites their own professors and student
accounts for experience on the subject of proposal budget making. The article thoroughly
explains each step in creating a budget from the definition to the documentation process in order
to accurately inform the reader on how to do so. The UCI Office of Research’s intent is to
showcase how the complexity of a proposal budget can be understood when broken down. This
information will be used when planning a proposal to the school board and/or school
administration. Following the steps provided by the article a budget will be created for new

Owens’s article addresses the difficulty in making change in schools and how to
effectively make changes that matter. Owens cites several authors such as John Hattie, and
professional research journals in their works exploring the frameworks of schools. Owens breaks
down each problem schools have when it comes to making change and suggests thorough
solutions. This article is helpful as it explains what is needed to make a difference in schools as
well as the challenges one may face when doing so. The information given will aid in making
changes to Poly’s lunch tables as well as assuring the changes are meaningful.

This article details the several steps involved in effective fundraising for a personal or
organizational purpose. Procuta cites her personal experience as well as community experience
of fundraising in her summary of how to fundraise well. Procuta suggests ways to organize and
particularly helpful as fundraising will be a major part of trying to get new tables at Poly. Money
for the new tables, as well as for cleaning supplies for the old tables, will be needed thus
funding is necessary.

In this article, Sweeten-Shults reports the crisis that dirty public schools have become.
Sweeten-Shults references the local ISD reports of school inspections in Wichita Falls about the
unclean schools. The paper highlights how schools in America are understaffed with custodians
and how many custodians do lackluster work due to low pay. It also showcases how universal
the issue of unsanitary school conditions are. This information is valuable as it confirms other
schools have cleanliness issues just as Poly does. It can help identify why unclean school
