HAZID Report on Ethylene Gas Compression

1. Background
The objective of this HAZID report is to present hazards and risks associated with the
ethylene gas compression section from the point where the ethylene enters the
compressor station to the point where the ethylene leaves the gas compression section.
This report will identify and analyze the hazards and risks associated with the gas
compression section, assess the findings against the risk criteria and identify opportunities
for risk reduction, and make recommendations as appropriate. The assessment has been
carried in accordance with the guidelines provided. The main hazard associated with the
ethylene is associated with compression of gas, which is a flammable gas held under
pressure.

5. Conclusion
From this HAZID study it is concluded that a strict safety considerations are required
in the Ethylene gas compression section. Hazard associated with the Ethylene gas
compression section can be minimized by adopting the actions recommended in HAZID as
shown section 3.
