Working Methodology of Concrete

preparation transportation and placing.

A) Preparation: -
a) Material: -
i) All ingredients such as cement, metal, river sand, crushed
sand, flyash admixture and water are used from approved make
and sources and further tests are conducted as per approved
test frequencies from in-house and outside laboratory.
ii) Storage: - All bulk materials Metal, River Sand, Crushed Sand
are stored in separate bins. Bulk Cement and Flyash is stored
in separate Silo. Water tank is constructed for water storage
and Admixture is stored in plastic drums.
Sand is washed before use by Sand washing machine even silt
content is found below permissible limit.

b) Process: -
i) Design Mix: -Several trial mixes had been conducted at in-
house laboratory and only approved mix for different grade of
concrete has been followed.
ii) Daily field correction is conducted at Laboratory in presence
of authorized representative.
iii) A Design Mix batch sheet is sent to plant operator everyday
after adjustment of field correction.
iv) Concrete is prepared in fully automatic batching Plant.
v) Every batch sheet is checked for variation in ingredients and
certified for variation within permissible limit.

preparation transportation and placing.

vi) Slump test is conducted for every transit.

B) Transportation: -

The green concrete is transported to the site by transit mixer.

C) Placing: -

Concrete is placed to the requisite location either by manual or by

concrete pump.

Manual: -
i) Concrete is unloaded in washed steel tray/concrete platform
from where laborers are engaged to place the concrete at
requisite location by head load.
ii) Extreme care is taken for concreting time, mixing with foreign
material/Height of drop.
iii) At the time of concreting if sufficient workability is not met,
second dose of superplasticizer or cement slurry in proportion
to designed water cement ratio is added to get sufficient
workable concrete as per the instruction provided.

ii) Concrete Pump: -

i) Workability of concrete is rechecked if workability of concrete is
found less than required second dose of superplasticizer is put to get
sufficient workable concrete.

ii) Concrete pump Pipeline is buttered with cement slurry before

putting the concrete in pump.

I) Compaction of concrete am done by vibratory insertion Needle by
experienced mason.
ii) Tamping is done from out side of shuttering with wooden mallet.

E) Curing: -
Curing is done by putting moist Hessian cloth over there the exposed
surface and wetting it by pumped water at regular interval.

F) Construction Joint: -

The surface going to receive concrete, which was roughened by wire

brush at the time of finishing of first pour, is again roughened,
cleaned, watered and a coat of cement slurry is applied

H) Concreting Below Ground Level: - The surface under water is

dewatered and cleaned of loose materials and should be approved
before putting the concrete.

I) Quality Control: - For every concreting activity after checking Job

card is filled and signed at three levels of authorities before pouring.
