1.0 OVERVIEW:
Design Thesis 11 is the culmination of each student's studies in Master of Architecture. Students are
expected to demonstrate mastery of design resolution, conceptual engagement, aesthetic expression and
appropriate technical ability. With Studio Master’s approval, students may undertake the Design Thesis as
an individually supervised design investigation. On completion of this course, students will be able to
demonstrate a capacity to make a contribution to the existing body of knowledge in architectural theory,
practice, technical requirements and an understanding of design as a form of research enquiry.

6. Ability to select the appropriate proprietary components to be incorporated into the primary
Structural System & the design of secondary components such as cladding systems, roofing
systems.
7. The ability to convey and prove the theories and studies in their design thesis.
8. Ability to incorporate and select systems to make buildings comfortable, functional, efficient
and safe. Typically these systems will include heating, ventilation and air conditioning
(HVAC), water & drainage, lighting, power, ICT, lifts and escalators, control systems,
9. Ability to write a technical report of the thesis

4.0 COURSE SYNOPSIS

Design Thesis 11 is a continuation of the semester 1 designs work. Students are expected to propose
structural work, details, GBI elements and comply with UBBL and statutory bodies and local authority
and building services. A balanced emphasis should be placed on the aspects of practical research,
innovation and design progress in each study, with realistic considerations recognized by the industry in
designing buildings. Students should be able to use research in the desertification to be integrated into
buildings and designs. Graphic communication is preferred and this communication should be solid and
accurate. The end result of the project is a set of graphic design illustrations, drawings, models and
report.

laporan.
