ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT IN ENGLISH


2018-2019
I. Introduction
Language is the basis of all communication and the primary instrument of thought. Thinking,
learning, and language are interrelated. Language is governed by rules and systems which are used to
explore and communicate meaning. It defines culture which is essential in understanding oneself,
forming interpersonal relationships, extending experiences, reflecting on thought and action, and
contributing to a better society. Language, therefore, is central to the peoples’ intellectual, social and
emotional development and has an essential role in all key learning areas.
Our thoughts, values and understandings are developed and expressed through language. This
process allows our students to understand better the world in which they live and contributes to the
development of their personal perspectives of the global community. People use language to make
sense of and bring order to their world. Therefore, proficiency in the language enables people to access,
process and keep abreast of information, to engage with the wider and more diverse communities, and
to learn about the role of language in their own lives, and in their own and other cultures.
Everyone is given the chance to explore and experience how to come out of their way especially
when it comes to language. Furthermore, pupils should then be an instrument in learning complicated
matters regarding the subject.
Quarterly, Trinidad Elementary School thinks on how to be of service with the pupils in order
for them to explore the subject and let them discover how far they can go. On our desire to be of service
to the pupils, the entire organization initiated incomparable efforts in helping students learn and grow.

II. Programs and Activities Implemented in School


In support with the advocacy of Department of Education in producing literate, communicative
competent and globally competitive learners, Trinidad Elementary School initiates the following
programs and activities:
1. Conducted the Group Screening Test in Phil-Iri.
2. Conducted the Individual Passages Reading Test in Phil-Iri Pre-test and Post Test
3. Implemented different intervention programs to enhance reading and comprehension like
Word for the Day, Paragraph a Day, or A Story a Day.
4. Supported and implemented Project ROBERT in the school
5. Assessed pupil’s performance through different tests.
6. Used supplementary books in teaching English
7. Utilize the school library
8. Conducted intensive review classes and Saturday review classes to prepare students who
competed to different contests in English.
9. Participated and competed in different competitions of Department of Education in school,
district and division level such as Press Conferences.
10. Conducted a Lit-Num (Literacy-Numeracy) Day

Students from Trinidad Elementary School competed and won in the following competitions:

VI. Most Significant Accomplishment


In a year of implementing and conducting different intervention programs in addressing
literacy-related challenges of learners, number of non-readers have reduced. Based from the results in
the Phil-Iri Pre and Post Test, the number of non-readers have reduced by 50%.
Aside from the reduced number of non-readers, students from Trinidad Elementary School
succeeded and won in the District Press Conference and Division Press Conference.

VII. Plans for the Next School Year


1. Eradicate non-readers in the school
2. Conduct more active intervention programs and activities that will help and develop
learners to become active readers
3. Continuous preparation of instructional materials
4. Provide more reading materials in the school library and classrooms
5. Excel in District and Division Level competitions
