VAN GEEL TUBE LADDER GLO-5

MEMBER VAN GEEL GROUP

THE PRODUCT Van Geel tube-cable ladder program has been specifically designed for
industrial application and to carry heavy cabling systems safely and economi-
cally.
It has been developed to bridge long unsupported spans and enables you at
the same time to reduce the cost of the suspension and supporting system.
In order to achieve a maximum flexibility in the field of industrial applica-
tion these ladders are available in a hot-dip galvanised execution with oval
or perforated C-type rungs.
Cable management equipment of Van Geel is used all over the world for
industries, powerstations, refineries, tunnels, bridges, petrochemical plants
and offshore applications.

DIMENSIONS Standard length: 3 and 6 m.

Standard width: 200 to 600 mm.
Standard pitch between rungs: oval rung = 250 mm, C-rung = 300 mm.
Standard height: 60 and 135 mm.

CONSTRUCTION The ladder is either a construction with welded perforated C-type rungs or
clenched oval rungs.
Tube type side beams combine considerable strength and consequently high
loading capacity, with a low ladder weight.
This type of ladder has a complete access in the cable loading area and eli-
minates the possibility of cable damage by sharp edges. The C-type rung is
provided with slotted holes. This enables the use of cable ties and cable
clamps.
The accessories are provided with perforated C-type rungs welded to the
side beams. Execution: hot-dip galvanised.

ACCESSORIES For changing directions horizontally as well as vertically a wide range of

accessories is available like elbows, tees, crosses and risers.
A number of coupling types provides additional flexibility in the track direc-
tion.
Covers for ladder as well as for the accessories are available on request.
For the selection of the supports and brackets we refer to the catalogue
”Supports and Brackets”.

PROGRAM The standard program consists of 3 series:

● KBZ Side wall height 60 mm round rung
KBZ-C Side wall height 60 mm C-type rung
● KBZV Side wall height 135 mm round rung

QUALITY All Van Geel products are manufactured within a total quality environment.
Our commitment to product development, the latest computer aided manu-
facturing systems and the dedication of our staff to quality give the peace of
mind our customers demand.

DETAILS OF MATERIALS The circumstances in which most cable ladders are used require that the
AND FINISHES complete system is protected against corrosion. The standard materials and
finishes are detailed below.

Pre-galvanised steel sheet (sendzimir) to EN 10142, DIN 17162, BS 2989.

This material is suitable for normal indoor atmospheres as plants, storages
etc. When used internally in normal conditions where the atmosphere is nei-
ther salt nor chemical laden, this material will prove ideal for the expected
life of the cable support system. This sheet steel is coated by the mill with a
zinc layer of aprox. 275 g/m2 counted on both sides, corresponding to an
approximate layer of
20 µ. Due to the special sendzimir galvanised process the sheet still is highly
workable. During product manufacturing sheet and strip are being punched,
cut an bend. Although there is hardly any zinc or even no zinc at all on the
cutting edges, the edges will be protected from corrosion due to the fact
that zinc is more base than steel, which leads to the so-called cathodic func-
tion of the two zinc layers present at a cutting edge. Therefore, it can be
presumed that under normal circumstances, products made from such sheet
(max. thickness 2 mm) are sufficiently corrosion-protected.

Hot dip galvanising to EN/NEN 1275/DIN 50976/BS 729/ISO 1461.

This finish is suitable for moist atmospheres such as (chemical) industries and
offshore applications. This galvanising process is carried out by dipping mild
steel into a bath of molten zinc which forms an alloyed layer with the mild
steel itself and coats the entire surface of the cable ladder. Depending on
the material thickness used, the zinc coating is between 50 an 80 microns on
each side. In case of a highly corrosive chemical condition other finishes or
coatings can be offered on request.
