VMC is going to held a Street Furniture camp in March 2017.For this VMC
Invites the application from the various Architects.
Following are the terms & conditions for the selection of the architects
1. Architects need to be the resident of Vadodara/ Practicing in Vadodara city and should
present a copy of their degree attached during the application.
2. Architects have to submit the bio-data, the images of five recent works and the Drawing
of the proposed model for the camp.
3. Size of the work should not be less than six feet.
4. Address for Submission of Design and Model at the address mentioned below on or
before 12/04/2017 upto16-00 hrs by RPAD/Speed Post only. To, Deputy Municipal

GENERAL INSTRUCTION FOR EOI

• VMC is planning to execute the work of VADODARA STREET FURNITURE

CAMP.

• VMC reserves the right to accept any or reject all the EOIs at their sole
discretion without assigning any reason thereof.

• VMC shall have right to call for clarification/original of the supporting

document for verification, as deemed fit and also to cross check for any details
as furnished by contractors/clients etc. Agencies shall have no objection
whatsoever in this regards.

• Attached is the prescribed format of qualifying details. Interested, parties may

use this format & add additional information as part of annexure, if they wish to.

• The offer shall contain hard copy of completed Document should reach on or
before 16:00 hours on dated 12/04/2017 in sealed cover addressed (Mentioning
the name of the work)

 Aim:
Is to integrate innovative street furniture in the urban infrastructure of Vadodara.

Objective:
Streetscape elements play an integral role in defining quality public spaces by guiding

and engaging the users. In the given context which is the city of Vadodara, we see a

dire need for optimal solutions to revitalize public spaces in a sustainable manner. One

such solution would be to utilize the available scrap with the VMC and the creative pool

of Architects and Designers to create something useful and meaningful and continuing

the spirit of Vadodara in terms of value addition to the city.

 
Terms and Conditions:
1. Architects/artists/designers need to be residents of Vadodara/ practicing in Vadodara city
and should present a copy of their degree attached during the application or they can team
up with the Architects of the city and participate, but the honorarium will be provided only
to the team and not to independent individuals.

2. Selection of the design will be done by a multidisciplinary jury consisting of various

stakeholders of the city.

3. Decision of the Jury is final and no modifications can be made under any conditions and
any dispute can be given in written to the Municipal Commissioner and should be brought
to the immediate notice of the Camp co-ordinator and the Municipal Commissioner.

4. Size of the work should not be less than six (6) feet in volume and the location of its
placement will be decided by the jury and the designers together.

5. The Jury has right to decide to integrate the work as the street furniture in the city or not
post its completion.

6. Designers have to submit the bio-data, images of five recent works and the drawing of the
proposed model for the camp and consult the mentor and the jury panel before execution of
the work.

7. Last date of submission is: 12/04/2017

8. All the work done will be property of the VMC and at no point can the designer or
Architect claim the ownership of the same.

Judging Process:

Projects will be judged purely on clarity and quality of entry – from the significance
of the design to the various iterations of the design and how the design has developed and
how well it translates the “spirit of vadodara” and the concept of up-cycling specific to the
context of the city and the jury has the right to decide the final entries and the decision of
the jury will be final and cannot be disputed if the participant agrees to participate in the
camp by signing of this form.

Copies of the existing designs will be scrutinized by the IP team and we request all
participants not to involve into any infringements on third party intellectual property.

Who can enter:

- Entry to the “Vadodara Street Furniture Camp” is open to all Architects, Product
Designers, Industrial Designers and interior designers who are graduates from any
university in/around Vadodara and have been working or practicing in the city of Vadodara.

- Teams are also encouraged to enter, provided at least one team member has studied or
practicing from Vadodara. This team member should register as the “Team Leader” during
the registration process. All participants, whether individual entrants or team entrants, are
required to provide proof of qualification.

 STAGES FOR SELECTION:

STAGE 1: Pre-Qualification stage.

In this stage qualification will be purely on the basis of Merit, submission of entry on time
before the deadline, Qualification and recent works of the participating Architect/Designer.
Maximum of 30 Designers to be selected.

STAGE 2: Preliminary design & Model stage.

In this stage, The stage 1 selected Architects/Designers will be given a curated tour of the
scrap yard at a selected date and time and based on the raw material provided, the
participant will have to give various designs, drawings and models (if necessary) to the jury
(Mentors can be consulted for design during this phase)
Based on the submission, one of the best designs submitted by each individual will be given
for execution to the participant. The participant has to agree to execute it with his/her team
at Akota Stadium only. (unless some logistic or other issue)

STAGE 3: Post completion stage.

Based on the finishing of the furniture, The Jury with its mentors will decide, what will go
where based on the context provided by the participants, camp curator and the jury.
