Project Title :
Slipping, Connecting

Project Date:
Dec, 2017

Script:
I used previous design approaches A
and B to create grouping and
connecting.

My groupings created L and T

shaped components that stretched
voids. I painted the interior spaces
with white and exterior spaces with
blue created by the final result of
sliding and rotating. The model
moves with a strict set of rules that
then creates completely
unanticipated voids for occupation.

Project Title :
Volumetric Clustering

Project Date:
Dec, 2017

Script:
By using volumetric clustering my
group and I were able to create
controlled triangular shapes that
could allow for forces to act upon
the model without snapping. The
fitted joints and controlled angles
were used to withstand flex and
force throughout the model.
Through repeated testing our
group found that the use of a 3
component loop withstood
pressure longer than the 5
component loop.

Project Title :
Shearing, Twisting

Project Date:
April, 2018

Script:
My first design approach has shearing, spreading, fitting, aligning.
My second design approach has twisting, folding, bending,
morphing.

These approaches, in relation to a hybrid model, could create a

variety of different public and private spaces and allows
circulation for occupants through the space. Both the models use
morphing and spreading as core ideas. I choose to use both
heavy and light materials to allow for different types of light to
puncture the area and reveal hidden spaces. In analyzing my own
work I found i have an interest in light and public space and how
occupants can influence their space. The idea of creating spaces
that can curve and move with the occupant considerably
changes the architecture.

Project Title :
Rotating, Flipping

Project Date:
Oct, 2018

Script:
The final model was the result of
analyzing Louis Kahn’s bathhouse.
He uses oculi and heavy walls to
alter the light entering a space for
the occupants. I chose to look at
how changing the oculi and
shifting the walls could affect
lighting. By pushing underground
this lighting becomes further
regulated and, therefore, creates
a level of hierarchy within the
structure.

Project Title :
Optic Subterranean

Project Date:
Feb, 2019

Script:
The title for my project is Optic
Subterranean. The precedent for
my project is The Trenton Bath
House designed by Louis Kahn. The
bath house uses a cross plan with
restricted lighting to alter an
occupant’s movement and
experience. My final project takes
the core of the cross plan’s
rotation and the oculus to create
occupiable terraced spaces and
cave like voids that pushes
underground.
