(Refer to the Wireline Fishing Manual for Complete Procedure)
Inspect Fishing Kit Confirm fish engagement by:
Maximize distance between drillpipe and top-drive ● increasing and slacking off wireline tension (use long bails/links where available) ● picking up drillpipe (reduction in cable tension) Apply tension of +1000 lbs over cable buoyant weight ● circulating and comparing pump pressure. Install T-bar; check for cable slippage Blow out the drain sub with pump pressure Lower elevators and cut cable With fish in overshot, install T-bar under spearhead Relocate upper sheave to the derrick at surface Wireline crew builds rope sockets Break weakpoint with T-bar in elevators; do not Install and test spearhead with spearhead overshot exceed cable SWL. assemblies Install second T-bar at drillpipe and set on a C-plate Assemble drillpipe overshot; thread spearhead Lay out spearhead/overshot asemblies & cut cable overshot assembly through Tie loose ends together with a square knot (Fig, A) Pick up drillpipe overshot Spool slowly and observe the knot tightening Spool up spearhead overshot assembly to Tension should not exceed 25% of ends-fixed break derrickman, feed into pipe, and lower to floor strength. Two T-bars may be required to bring knot Connect spearhead overshot to spearhead (inspect, back to winch. tighten and test connections frequently) Remove T-bar and carefully spool knot over sheaves Pick up wireline and remove T-bar to drum; remove IDW/CMTD and spool knot onto drum Lower pipe into hole and place C-plate under the Re-install IDW, CMTD and reset depth including spearhead cable footage cut out Slack off and disengage spearhead overshot Near surface, slow down and pull out of hole and Flag cable at drum when spearhead overshot tie-off wireline reaches derrickman Ensure FE is on the rig floor w/ top of fish at 200’ and Flag cable again when spearhead overshot reaches POOH with DP bottom of pipe With tools at surface, install make-up plate Proceed cautiously until jars and BHA are in the hole immediately below overshot and disconnect tools Halt operation; install “No-Go” hex adaptor (2 ¼-in OD) Rig down remainder of tool Trip DP into hole; inspect the swivel every 10 stands Disconnect downhole overshot from drillpipe and Install circulating sub 1 to 2 stands above expected remove tools with hand tools or send back to base. top of fish Untie the cable, cut the rope socket, clear rig floor, Circulate to clean grapple and DP overshot and pull cable over the top sheave by hand Remove circulating assembly and continue in hole Spool up the cable with the winch until tension increases
