Design (cont’d) - Star-structured serial bus Settings, service values and trip values are
based on the set basic values of current and
- Software in RLSC 100 and the measur-
voltages, which normally correspond to the
ing units
rated values of generator current and voltage.
RLSC 100 is the master of the HMC-system.
It identifies installed units and establishes a
cyclic poll of all units. An internal fault in a
unit, leading to no answer from the micropro-
cessor in the unit, will be alarmed by the
HMC-unit.

If a start and/or trip occurs within a measur-

ing unit, the unit reports a change in status
during the cyclic poll. RLSC 100 then auto-
matically uploads the information related to
this event and transfers it to the RTIA unit.

The HMC display unit RTIA is plugged into

the front of the RLSC 100 unit. It is used to
set the relay, select various options and
present information to the operator, (see
Fig. 1. below).

functions is programmed to activate one or
several of the four tripping relays. A software
tripping matrix with four channels is thus
obtained.

The four trip channels can on each individual
