History Crane Valve Group

In the valve industry, no name is more widely recognized

around the world than Crane. Founded in 1855, Crane Co.
became an integral part of the American Industrial Revo-
lution by manufacturing a diverse range of cast and fabri-
cated metal products – from lightning rods to railroad
equipment. Founder Richard Teller Crane quickly moved
the company into the production of valves for industrial
applications. As the need for a broader range of valve types
grew, Crane Co. expanded its product offering by acquiring a
variety of companies to strengthen its position. Today, Crane
Valve Group is a global leader in the manufacture of quality
valve products for industrial and commercial applications.

Typical valve maintenance is a periodic
function, but moving to condition
based maintenance has substantial
advantages. By collecting and analyz-

tenance activities can be focused on
the specific valves that are actually showing indications
of degradation. This condition-based maintenance
process defers unnecessary valve and actuator main-
tenance, resulting in significant cost savings and
improving outage performance.
