+ In order to preserve the template, use the "file/save as" function to save the formulas and graph to another file.
+ Data entry sections have been designed and are located on the left hand side of the "template" spreadsheet
+ If additional rows are needed or if rows need to be deleted, delete or insert rows somewhere between the first and last row (instead of
adding them to the end of the sheet). This will help to eliminate the need to reenter formulas or to change the data ranges for the
graphs so as to include additional rows.
+ Templates are set up to automatically recalculate values with each data entry although you will need to copy the corresponding cells
from the sections used for graphing in order for these cells to fill in. Copy cells from the last line of cells that are filled in to get the data
that has been entered to transfer into the graph sections. This is most easily accomplished by highlighting the cells that you want to
copy and dragging the corner square of the highlighted section downward.
+ In order to evaluate the effectiveness of a change, it may be necessary to “freeze or possibly change” the parameters of some of the
calculations (e.g. the mean, UCL, LCL, etc.). Freezing can be accomplished by changing the range of the calculations and “changing
(i.e. adding a new control limit or mean)” can be accomplished by entering an additional area for calculations and by changing the
referenced cells on the graph sections.
+ Graphs that feed off of the template sheet are set up and can be found on the sheet next to the template sheet.
+ Titles on the graphs are still needed and should be added using either the “File/Page Set Up/Header Footer” and/or the “Chart/Chart
Options/Titles” functions
+ When you print the XmR chart, look in page preview to make sure that both charts will print. If it looks as if only one will print, you will
need to click in the upper right hand corner so that the entire page is selected.
Note: It is recommended you get some help the first time you use this template.
