My writing process
I am not very fond of writing for an assignment as generally it forces a person to express
ideas for something they have little interest in. This can be compared to working at a job you
hate or letting go of someone, while anyone would much rather not to, sometimes it is necessary.
As such I have two different writing processes. The more common one is where I briefly find
typical information over a set topic and throw up on a sheet of paper as much as humanly
possible in hopes of getting a good grade, my ability to turn one piece of information into
multiple paragraphs is astonishing. Then there is the second writing process in which I write
about something I care about or simply write about my day in my phone, I like this more because
of the passion I can have making it not seem as a task but as more of a hobby.
I am not a good writer, as such I make self-compromise. For assignments that I know
within seconds I could not care less about I go through simple steps. First, I make sure to pick
out all possible shortcuts, next I determine the length required so that I can jot down what I will
extensively and unnecessarily explain to meet the requirement, lastly I write until my brain can
no longer discharge information which leads to revising and hopefully ends with something
acceptable. Generally I take my time with assignments, I start early and finish late as I love many
other things that soothe my insatiable desire to be occupied due to certain rampant thoughts. I
have one key method that I use in case I run out of ideas while writing, I start a new paragraph
with one sentence from which new ideas stem, sentences never thought of before and maybe

even something worth using. This method is usually not for the assignment as that would be
pointless, I use it for stimulation so that hopefully my mind will pump out anything from the
reserves. For example, the assignment could be to write about current global economic status,
once I run out of ideas ill start a new paragraph with one of two things. Very rarely it will be
about the topic at hand. More than likely it will be something far off such as “How was your
day?” or even “riding the train is a wonderful experience, here is why people should shower
regularly”. Writing can be mentally draining when I write for something I would rather pay
someone else to do, unfortunately college has generously helped me invest in my future so I use
Goals:
- Stay on topic
- Make the reader more interested (pull them in with a good opening maybe)
- Work on diction
