Some of the best business lessons I’ve learned over the past 10 years came
from spending just 1 hour with a billionaire. Meetings I’ve had with people like
Pick ‘n Pay founder Raymond Ackerman or Massmart founder Mark Lamberti
and many other billionaires have irreversibly impacted my life.
 
Most people will tell you that to succeed in business you must think the way
multimillionaire entrepreneurs and billionaires think. Sadly, that’s not enough.
You must modify your behaviour too!

1.    We get paid BIG money for WHO we are, and small money for WHAT we
do. (Oprah gets paid BIG money for being Oprah; other people get paid for TV

2.    Wealthy people are in the business of being themselves more than the
business of doing what they do. The best example is Richard Branson and his
Virgin brand. Richard is not the best company Chairman (nor does he care) but
he is the best at being Sir Richard. Virgin is not the best in the sectors it
operates in, but the best at being the Virgin brand.
 
3.    We are not in the business we think we are in - we are in the self-
aggrandizement business first. (This may sound controversial; let me know if
you need an explanation.)
 
4.    Billionaires will unashamedly look for and find every opportunity to ethically
promote themselves or their businesses.
 
5.    Billionaires will sell, make authentic offers and ethically ask people to give
them money daily – without feeling guilty or dirty about it. They love selling!
 
6.    Billionaires get a lot of criticism and hate. Therefore they live by these 2
mantras:

a.    Don’t worry about offending the dogs when you are trying to attract foxes.
 
b.    Those who mind do not matter; because those who matter do not mind!
 
7.    Billionaires do not have lack-based thoughts, worries and concerns. At
their core they do not identify with lack mentality. Lack mentality is the biggest
cause of frustration and financial strain.
 
8.    Even when they have no reason to believe – they always expect miracles
daily. They always expect things to work out in their favour. They always expect
the universe to conspire in their support.
