Procedure Name: Download analysis data from PL302 to P.C. via ADT.
Purpose: To get a permanent record from the PL302 in analysis mode to allow plots in Excel.

Activities:
1) Take readings in analyzer mode or LTR mode.

2) 2.0 The readings that you take will automatically increment every time you hit the STORE soft key.
E.g. 00000001.TRA
00000002.TRA
00000003.TRB (or TRA or LTR)
etc.

3) 3.0 Check the communication settings. From the display screen hit the STAT soft key and then the
UTIL soft key. Under RS232 ensure the settings are:
BAUD: 9600
Parity: NONE
Data Bits: Eight
Stop Bits: One.
Under SYSTEM: ensure that the printer output is set to PRINT: LASER PRT.
Hit the DISP soft key to go back to the display.

4) Hit the SETUP key and select the MEM soft key.

5) Check the filename(s) that you want to dump. Move the cursor over to OPERATION and select
DUMP. Hit the ENTER key. Select DUMP ALL (do not hit ENTER yet).

6) Connect the printer/P.C. cable to the PL302 and to the P.C. com port.

7) 7.0 Start the P.C. in DOS.

CD\ADT (Enter)
ADT (Enter)
Hit “F5” on the P.C. On the PL302 hit ENTER (see step 5).
The data will now transfer.
When the transfer is complete hit “F9” to exit and confirm with ENTER.

8) 8.0 The file which has been transferred will have an extension which relates to the data which has
been captured and stored into C:\ADT.
i.e. TRA Trace from channel A
TRB Trace from channel B
LTA Long time record channel A
LTB Long time record channel B.
The file is “flat ASCII”.

9) Start Excel and open one of the files which you have transferred. Note that the extension type is NOT
*XLS. As soon as you open the file the “Text Wizard” starts.
Start Input @ Row 1

10) You now have an Excel spreadsheet with 2 columns:

Column A = amplitude
Column B = frequency (spectrum) or time (mS).
This format is not used by the chart wizard so you must swap the columns around by inserting a
column to the left of column A and cutting the second column to paste into the new (empty) column.

11) Select all the data in the 2 columns. Click on the “Chart Wizard” button. Define where you want to
place the chart - preferably at the top of the spreadsheet.

12) Select LINE
