This letter is prepared at the request of BATIHAN ZENGIN who is a student at the Department of
Civil Engineering at Okan University, Istanbul, Turkey.

I have known Mr. Zengin since Fall2015 semester. He has taken my CE303 Soil Mechanics I on
Fall 2015 semester, CE304 Soil Mechanics II on Spring 2016 semester and C8404 Foundation
Engineering on Spring 2017 semester. In addition, he has completed his graduation project under
my supervision. He was one of the best students in CE404, and he has carried over the learning
experience from CE404 to graduation project where he designed a deep foundation system for a
high-rise structure. Mr. Zenginwas a conscientious, hard working, industrious and devoted student.
He was very active in participating in class discussions and also asked further questions in my

office hours. In addition, I have evaluated his graduation project report which was prepared in
professional manner.

Frankly, I believe he will be a successful graduate student and will work in harmony with his
prospective advisor.
