Marijuana

Legalized Marijuana creates steep costs for society and tax payers that far outweigh it tax

revenues. “Marijuana is the psychoactive dried resinous flower buds and leaves of the female

hemp or cannabis plant (cannabis sativa or indica) that contain high levels of THC and are

smoked, vaped or ingested in baked goods for the intoxicating effect” (Merriam-Webster).

Marijuana is a problem for society because people are trafficking illegal weed and selling it to

minors. It began in the 1960s and it happens everywhere around the world.

Marijuana impairs judgment and makes people act recklessly. I believe that new

technologies and new products regarding cannabis are constantly being developed and improved.

If I had the power, money, in order to solve the issue on marijuana and make it legal to all who

need it for medical reason like people with depression, chronic pain, and multiple scoliosis. The

government should legalize marijuana medical and recreational use because it can help people

with medical issue and it can also reduce crime rates.

Recreational marijuana can be used as an anti-depressor. More than half of the world’s

population are users of marijuana and 90% of the population primary use for it is to stop feeling

low to be happy. Regulating marijuana would make it easier to get to help people achieve

happiness. “Anandamide, which is one of the body’s natural endocannabinoids, is known to

produce joy and happiness. It also plays a role in memory, motivation, pain; appetite and

fertility. It’s the binding of anandamide with the CBI receptor that produces the ‘feel good’ effect

that is similar to that associated with cannabis usage” (hellomd.com). Cannabis is linked to an

individual's happiness and can improve mental health. Cannabis usage can heighten levels of

emotion in a relationship making both partners happier. “Studies have shown that marijuana can

heighten sexual pleasure, and who doesn’t want that, right?” (Thekindiand.com). Positive effect

from cannabis can be to a relationship making both partners happy. Cannabis being used as an

anti-depressant can greatly affect society’s positivity all around the world.

The legalization of marijuana can help people make money. Selling marijuana can get

money for people who cannot find jobs because of their background information with them being

involved with the police in a bad way. “Legal marijuana sales in North America are closing in on

$10 million a year, according to ArcView Market Research, which tracks the industry. And with

Canada and more states legalizing cannabis, that number will only get bigger” (moneywise.com).

Other states legalizing cannabis has been beneficial because of how much money it makes for

the economy, which also means that he people with cannabis is making good money. Marijuana

jobs would be all over the place is cannabis was legalized and with the right kind of career

training, it can easily turn into a huge successful corporation. “Weed is a new sector with lots of

new jobs. The positions vary, but you can find something that pays well if you are driven, have

the right skills and know how to market yourself” (moneywise.com). As long someone knows

what they are ding, they can handle marijuana. This means that it is easy to acquire a job making

it more beneficial for people that cannot get a job. Legalizing marijuana is good for the economy

because of the number of jobs it will create for everyone.

Legalizing marijuana will give kids who are usually in the streets, or in the house, a new

hobby that will make them money legally with benefit them drastically. Children who are in the

streets have a high risk of being locked up or getting stuck in violence that either causes them to

get killed or jumped into gangs. “From a pro-legalization perspective, advocates noted that full

legalization would bring transactions off the streets often dangerous for many reasons- and into

safe, responsibly run retail environments” (cheatsheet.com). Legalizing marijuana is beneficial to

helping kids get out of the streets. The legalization of marijuana can even help kids who usually

are used to it, are not going to want to use it. “In fact, marijuana use among teenagers has

actually dropped in Colorado, much to surprise of everyone” (cheatsheet.com). Making

marijuana legal the teenage usage rate to it would be lower. Teens would have the biggest benefit

out of other age groups if marijuana was legalized.

There are going to be people who disagree with trying to legalize marijuana. Legalizing

marijuana can give criminals the choice to be bad influences on society in the open where there

are children and adolescents. The legalization of marijuana can bring even more criminal

behavior into society. “Some officials are complaining that all of this legal weed business has

done nothing fir their community but spawn home invasions, violent crimes, and robberies,

according to report from the Cloverdale Reveille” (Forbes.com). There will be more violence in

our society if marijuana is legalized. Legalizing marijuana can become a problem in most states

where it is not legal. “Marijuana reform increases crime this argument stems from a deep-seated

fear of a nationwide crime wave” (Civilized.com). Providing marijuana to all criminals around

the world means they will be more active in our society. Legalizing marijuana will give criminals

an alibi to be more active which puts everyone in dangerous environments.

Legalizing marijuana will cause children and teens to turn to usage more quickly because

of how easier it would be due to it being legal. By legalizing marijuana means crime rate will

increase. “All crime increased 6.2 percent” (Snopes.com). Crime rates are already increasing by

itself so legalizing marijuana will increase it even more around the world. After legalization,

crimes against individuals will increase. “Crimes against persons increased 15 percent”

(Snopes.com). Since crimes rates are increasing it will be even higher is marijuana is legal.

Legalizing marijuana will tremendously increase violence in our society.

Even though the legalization of marijuana can bring criminals out in the open and bring

children towards its usage, it is still a good investment. Yes, criminals will be outside with it but

that is why there will be limitations on what age and a process of who can buy marijuana. The

children aspect of it can be bad, but with marijuana being legalized adolescents can be taught in

school and at home how to properly discipline themselves while they use marijuana. Overall, the

positives of cannabis legalization over-rule the con of what could happen.

The government should legalize marijuana medical and recreational use because it can

help people with medical issues and can also reduce crime rates. Marijuana can be used as an

anti-depressant, so it can heighten people’s levels of emotion for the better. More people can get

jobs because of how this corporation could be one of the biggest industries. It can also can keep

teenagers out of the streets which is good. Marijuana can solve our issue at hand by having more

people with jobs which means crime rates could go down and people that have medical issues

have something natural for them to be better.
