ན་མོ་་་ ་་་ཡཻ།
Namo Gurvyā Āryatārāyai!

ས་གམ་འེན་པ་ས་བཅས་ལས། །
Tārā, Mother of the guides of past, present and future, and of all their heirs,

གས་བེད་ིན་ལས་ལ་ང་བ། །
Your exalted resolve and activities are marvellous and excellent.

མ་ར་ོལ་མ་ལ་བད་ནས། །
To you I bow!

་ོད་དང་མན་ཉམས་ན་བཤད། །
Here I shall explain your practice, according to Kriyā and Caryā!

འང་ཟབ་ག་འ་ཉམས་ན་ཡང་ཟབ་ིང་པོ་བས་པ་ན་པས་ོས་བཅས་མང་་་དས་ང༌། ང་ཟད་ོས་པ་
དང༌། ན་ེར་་་བ་ེ་ས་བས་གས་ལས།
This Profound Essence is the most profound form of practice, a distilled quintessence, so there is no need for much
elaboration. Nevertheless, it exists in two forms: one that is slightly elaborate and another which can be done as a
daily practice.

Elaborate Practice

དང་པོ་། ེ་བན་ོལ་མ་་བན་ིས་འར་སོགས་དན་མག་་ེན་གང་འཛོམ་ི་མན་། ེགས་་གཙང་

མར་་གས་ར་ོད། དཀར་མ། བསང་། མད་པ་མལ། འཐོར་ནས་སོགས་འ་། འབ་ན་ས་དང་
གཙང་་ན་ོད་་ང། ་ོགས་ན་ཤ་ཆང་མ་འབགས་པ་་ོ་ཆ་་ར་ིད་ལས་ས་པར་འང་དང༌ང་
བ་མས་ི་ན་ོང་དང་ན་པས་བས་མས་།
Before a painting or statue of the noble lady Tārā, or any support of the Three Jewels, arrange on a clean surface
the two waters, general offerings, round white torma, cleansing water, offering maṇḍala, grain for tossing, and
any other necessary articles. If possible, observe the appropriate conduct of bathing and cleanliness; if this is not
possible, at least perform the practice at a time when you have not recently consumed meat or alcohol, such as in
the morning.

Motivated by renunciation and bodhicitta, recite the following verses for taking refuge and arousing bodhicitta:

Refuge and bodhicitta

མན་ི་ནམ་མཁར་ེ་བན་མ་མན་མ་བགས་པར་མོས་ལ།
dün gyi namkhar jetsünma ngönsum shyukpar gyur
In the sky before me, the Noble Lady is present in actuality.

ན་མོ། དན་མག་ན་དས་ེ་བན་མར། །
namo könchok kün ngö jetsünmar
Namo! Noble Lady, embodiment of the Three Jewels,

བདག་སོགས་འོ་ན་བས་་མ། །
dak sok dro kün kyab su chi
Together with all sentient beings, I take refuge in you!

ང་བ་ོན་པ་མས་བེད་ནས། །
changchub mönpé semkyé né
I arouse bodhicitta in aspiration

ཟབ་མོ་ལམ་ལ་འག་པར་བི། །
zabmö lam la jukpar gyi
And set out upon the profound path!

Gelongma Palmo’s Seven-Branch Offering2

ཚོགས་བསགས་པ་།
To gather the accumulations, recite:

1. Prostration

ེ་བན་འཕགས་མ་ོལ་མ་དང༌། །
jetsün pakma drolma dang
To the Exalted Ārya, the Noble Lady Tārā,

ོགས་བ་ས་གམ་བགས་པ་། །
chok chu dü sum shyukpa yi
And to all the victors and their heirs

ལ་བ་ས་བཅས་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ། །
gyalwa sé ché tamché la
Dwelling in all directions of the universe, through past, present and future,

ན་ནས་དང་བས་ག་བིའོ། ། 2
ན་ནས་དང་བས་ག་བིའོ། །
künné dangwé chak gyi o
Sincerely and with delight I pay homage!

2. Offering

་ཏོག་བག་ོས་མར་་ི། །
metok dukpö marmé dri
I make offerings of flowers, incense, lamps, fragrant scents,

ཞལ་ཟས་རོལ་མོ་ལ་སོགས་པ། །
shyalzé rolmo lasokpa
And food, and music, and the like —

དས་འོར་ད་ིས་ལ་ནས་འལ། །
ngöjor yi kyi trul né bul
Both physical and imaginary, created by the mind.

འཕགས་མ་ཚོགས་མས་བས་་གསོལ། །
pakmé tsok nam shyé su sol
Assembly of Noble Ladies, please accept them all!

3. Confession

ཐོག་མ་ད་ནས་ད་་བར། །
tokma mé né danté bar
All my negative deeds throughout beginningless time until today,

་ད་བ་དང་མཚམས་ད་། །
mi gé chu dang tsammé nga
The ten non-virtues and the five with immediate reckoning —

མས་་ན་མོངས་དབང་ར་པ། །
sem ni nyönmong wang gyurpé
Sprung from this mind that is driven by destructive emotions,

ིག་པ་ཐམས་ཅད་བཤགས་པར་བི། །
dikpa tamché shakpar gyi
I confess them all, each and every one.

4. Rejoicing

ཉན་ཐོས་རང་ལ་ང་བ་མས། །
nyentö ranggyal changchub sem
With a heart full of delight, I rejoice in all the merits

སོ་སོ་ེ་བོ་ལ་སོགས་པས། །
soso kyewo lasokpé
Of bodhisattvas, pratyekabuddhas, śravakas

ས་གམ་ད་བ་་བསགས་པ། །
dü sum gewa chi sakpé
And every living being,

བསོད་ནམས་ལ་་བདག་་རང༌། །
sönam la ni dak yi rang
Throughout the three times.

5. Imploring the Buddhas to turn the wheel of Dharma

མས་ཅན་མས་ི་བསམ་པ་དང༌། །
semchen nam kyi sampa dang
I implore you: according to the temperament

ོ་་ེ་ག་་་བར། །
lo yi jedrak jitawar
And mental capacity of sentient beings,

་ང་ན་མོང་ག་པ་། །
chechung tünmong tekpa yi
Please turn the wheel of Dharma

ས་ི་འར་ལོ་བོར་་གསོལ། །
chö kyi khorlo kor du sol
Of all the vehicles — lesser, greater, and general.

6. Requesting the Buddhas not to enter nirvāṇa

འར་བ་་ིད་མ་ོངས་བར། །
khorwa jisi matongwar
Until saṃsāra has been completely emptied,

་ངན་་འདའ་གས་ེ་ས། །
nya ngen mi da tukjé yi
I beseech you: do not pass into nirvāṇa,

ག་བལ་་མཚོར་ིང་བ་། །
dukngal gyatsor jingwa yi
But look upon us with your boundless compassion,

མས་ཅན་མས་ལ་གགས་་གསོལ། ། 4
མས་ཅན་མས་ལ་གགས་་གསོལ། །
semchen nam la zik su sol
As we flounder in this ocean of suffering.

7. Dedication

བདག་ས་བསོད་ནམས་་བསགས་པ། །
dak gi sönam chi sakpa
May whatever virtue I have amassed

ཐམས་ཅད་ང་བ་ར་ར་ནས། །
tamché changchub gyur gyur né
Become the cause of enlightenment for all;

ང་པོར་་ཐོག་འོ་བ་། །
ringpor mi tok drowa yi
May I quickly, without delay or deferment,

འེན་པ་དཔལ་་བདག་ར་ག །
drenpé pal du dak gyur chik
Become an excellent guide to all beings.

ད་ོང་མ་དཔལ་མོས་མཛད་པར་གས་སོ།
This is said to have been composed by Gelongma Palmo.

Blessing the Offerings

མད་པ་ིན་བབ་།
To bless the offerings:

ༀ་བ་ཨ་ྀ་ཏ་་ི་ཧ་ན་ཧ་ན་ྃ་ཕཊ།
om benza amrita kundali hana hana hung pé
oṃ vajrāmṛtakuṇḍali hana hana hūṃ phaṭ

ༀ་་་ཝ་ོ་ས་དྷ་་་ཝ་ོ྅།
om sobhava shuddho sarva dharma sobhava shuddho hang
oṃ svabhāva śuddhāḥ sarvadharmāḥ svabhāva śuddho ‘haṃ

ས་བསང་ང་།
Thereby cleanse and purify.

གནས་ལ་པོ་བད་པ་ང༌། །
neyul pemo köpé shying
Here, in the realm called Lotus Array,3

དིབས་དང་ན་བད་ཚད་ད་པར། ། 5
དིབས་དང་ན་བད་ཚད་ད་པར། །
yib dang gyen kö tsemepar
With perfect form and boundless embellishment,

་ས་ང་འན་ལས་བ་པ། །
lhadzé tingdzin lé drubpé
Beyond all imagining, are myriad offerings

མད་ས་བསམ་་བ་པར་ར། །
chödzé sam mi khyabpar gyur
Of substances divine, sprung from meditation.

ༀ་བ་ཨཾ་ ཱཾ་ེ་་་ཨ་ལོ་་གེ་་་ ་ཤ་ཿྃ།

om benza argham padam pupé dhupé aloké gendhé nevidé shapta ah hung
oṃ vajra-arghaṃ pādyaṃ puṣpe dhūpe āloke gandhe naivedye śabda āḥ hūṃ

ༀ་བ་་ར་ཎ་།
om benza saparana kham
oṃ vajra-spharaṇa-kham

General Homage and Offering to the Three Jewels

་ནས་ཐོག་མར་དན་མག་ི་ལ་ག་མད་འལ་བ་།
Following this, first pay homage and make offerings to the Three Jewels in general:

ོགས་བ་ས་བ་་མ་ལ་བ་ས་དང་བཅས་པ་ཐམས་ཅད་མན་ི་ནམ་མཁར་བ་ས་་ཛཿ
chok chu dü shyi lama gyalwa sé dang chepa tamché dün gyi namkhar benza sa ma dza
From the ten directions and the four times, all the gurus, victors and their heirs gather in
the sky in front of me — vajra-samāja!

མ་ས་མས་ཅན་ན་ི་མན་ར་ང༌། །
malü semchen kün gyi gön gyur ching
Protectors of each and every being without exception,

བད་ེ་དང་བཅས་་བཟད་འམས་མཛད་། །
dü dé pung ché mi zé jom dzé lha
Deities who put an end to the demon hordes of māras,

དས་མས་མ་ས་་བན་མེན་ར་པ། །
ngö nam malü jishyin khyen gyurpé
Omniscient Ones, whose knowledge covers all without exception,

བམ་ན་འར་བཅས་གནས་འར་གགས་་གསོལ། །
chomden khor ché né dir shek su sol
Blessed Ones, please come, together with your retinues! Please come to this place!

པ་ཀ་མ་་ཡ་ ཾ། 6
པ་ཀ་མ་་ཡ་ ཾ།
pema kamala ya stam
padma-kamalāya stvam

Zangchö Mönlam’s Seven Branch Prayer

ཡན་ལག་བན་པ་།
Then recite the Seven Branch Prayer:

1. Prostration

་ེད་་དག་ོགས་བ་འག་ེན་ན། །
jinyé su dak chok chü jikten na
To all the buddhas, the lions of the human race,

ས་གམ་གགས་པ་་་ང་་ན། །
dü sum shekpa mi yi sengé kün
In all directions of the universe, through past and present and future:

བདག་ས་མ་ས་་དག་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ། །
dak gi malü dedak tamché la
To every single one of you, I bow in homage;

ས་དང་ངག་ད་དང་བས་ག་བིའོ། །
lü dang ngak yi dangwé chak gyi o
Devotion fills my body, speech and mind.

བཟང་པོ་ོད་པ་ོན་ལམ་ོབས་དག་ས། །
zangpo chöpé mönlam tob dak gi
Through the power of this prayer, aspiring to Good Action,

ལ་བ་ཐམས་ཅད་ད་ིས་མན་མ་། །
gyalwa tamché yi kyi ngönsum du
All the victorious ones appear, vivid here before my mind

ང་་ལ་ེད་ས་རབ་བད་པ་ས། །
shying gi dul nyé lü rab tüpa yi
And I multiply my body as many times as atoms in the universe,

ལ་བ་ན་ལ་རབ་་ག་འཚལ་ལོ། །
gyalwa kün la rabtu chaktsal lo
Each one bowing in prostration to all the buddhas.

2. Offering

ལ་གག་ེང་ན་ལ་ེད་སངས་ས་མས། །
dul chik teng na dul nyé sangye nam
In every atom preside as many buddhas as there are atoms,

སངས་ས་ས་ི་དས་ན་བགས་པ་དག །
sangye sé kyi ü na shyukpa dak
And around them, all their bodhisattva heirs:

་ར་ས་ི་དིངས་མས་མ་ས་པ། །
detar chö kyi ying nam malüpa
And so I imagine them filling

ཐམས་ཅད་ལ་བ་དག་ས་གང་བར་མོས། །
tamché gyalwa dak gi gangwar mö
Completely the entire space of reality.

་དག་བགས་པ་་ཟད་་མཚོ་མས། །
dedak ngakpa mizé gyatso nam
Saluting them with an endless ocean of praise,

དངས་ི་ཡན་ལག་་མཚོ་་ན་ིས། །
yang kyi yenlak gyatsö dra kün gyi
With the sounds of an ocean of different melodies

ལ་བ་ན་ི་ཡོན་ཏན་རབ་བོད་ང་། །
gyalwa kün gyi yönten rab jö ching
I sing of the buddhas’ noble qualities,

བ་བར་གགས་པ་ཐམས་ཅད་བདག་ས་བོད། །
dewar shekpa tamché dak gi tö
And praise all those who have gone to perfect bliss.

་ཏོག་དམ་པ་ེང་བ་དམ་པ་དང་། །
metok dampa trengwa dampa dang
To every buddha, I make offerings:

ལ་ན་མས་དང་ག་པ་གགས་མག་དང་། །
silnyen nam dang jukpa duk chok dang
Of the loveliest flowers, of beautiful garlands,

མར་་མག་དང་བག་ོས་དམ་པ་ས། །
marmé chok dang dukpö dampa yi
Of music and perfumed ointments, the best of parasols,

ལ་བ་་དག་ལ་་མད་པར་བི། ། 8
ལ་བ་་དག་ལ་་མད་པར་བི། །
gyalwa dedak la ni chöpar gyi
The brightest lamps and finest incense.

ན་བཟའ་དམ་པ་མས་དང་ི་མག་དང་། །
naza dampa nam dang dri chok dang
To every buddha, I make offerings:

ེ་མ་ར་མ་་རབ་མཉམ་པ་དང་། །
chema purma rirab nyampa dang
Exquisite garments and the most fragrant scents,

བད་པ་ད་པར་འཕགས་པ་མག་ན་ིས། །
köpa khyepar pakpé chok kün gyi
Powdered incense, heaped as high as Mount Meru,

ལ་བ་་དག་ལ་་མད་པར་བི། །
gyalwa dedak la ni chöpar gyi
Arranged in perfect symmetry.

མད་པ་གང་མས་་ད་་་བ། །
chöpa gang nam lamé gyachewa
Then the vast and unsurpassable offerings —

་དག་ལ་བ་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ་ཡང་མོས། །
dedak gyalwa tamché la yang mö
Inspired by my devotion to all the buddhas, and

བཟང་པོ་ོད་ལ་དད་པ་ོབས་དག་ས། །
zangpo chö la depé tob dak gi
Moved by the power of my faith in Good Actions —

ལ་བ་ན་ལ་ག་འཚལ་མད་པར་བི། །
gyalwa kün la chaktsal chöpar gyi
I prostrate and offer to all you victorious ones.

3. Confession

འདོད་ཆགས་་ང་ག་ག་དབང་ས་། །
döchak shyedang timuk wang gi ni
Whatever negative acts I have committed,

ས་དང་ངག་དང་་བན་ད་ིས་ང་། །
lü dang ngak dang deshyin yi kyi kyang
While driven by desire, hatred and ignorance,

ིག་པ་བདག་ས་བིས་པ་་མས་པ། །
dikpa dak gi gyipa chichi pa
With my body, my speech and also with my mind,

་དག་ཐམས་ཅད་བདག་ས་སོ་སོར་བཤགས། །
dedak tamché dak gi sosor shak
Before you, I confess and purify each and every one.

4. Rejoicing

ོགས་བ་ལ་བ་ན་དང་སངས་ས་ས། །
chok chü gyalwa kün dang sangye sé
With a heart full of delight, I rejoice at all the merits

རང་ལ་མས་དང་ོབ་དང་་ོབ་དང་། །
ranggyal nam dang lob dang mi lob dang
Of buddhas and bodhisattvas,

འོ་བ་ན་ི་བསོད་ནམས་གང་ལ་ཡང་། །
drowa kün gyi sönam gangla yang
Pratyekabuddhas, those in training and the arhats beyond training,

་དག་ན་ི་ེས་་བདག་་རང་། །
dedak kün gyi jesu dak yi rang
And every living being, throughout the entire universe.

5. Imploring the Buddhas to Turn the Wheel of Dharma

གང་མས་ོགས་བ་འག་ེན་ོན་མ་མས། །
gang nam chok chü jikten drönma nam
You who are like beacons of light shining through the worlds,

ང་བ་མ་པར་སངས་ས་མ་ཆགས་བེས། །
changchub rimpar sangye ma chak nyé
Who passed through the stages of enlightenment, to attain buddhahood, freedom from all
attachment,

མན་པོ་་དག་བདག་ས་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ། །
gönpo dedak dak gi tamché la
I exhort you: all of you protectors,

འར་ལོ་་ན་ད་པར་བོར་བར་བལ། །
khorlo lanamepar korwar kul
Turn the unsurpassable wheel of Dharma.

6. Requesting the Buddhas not to enter Nirvāṇa

་ངན་འདའ་ོན་གང་བད་་དག་ལ། །
nya ngen da tön gang shyé dedak la
Joining my palms together, I pray

འོ་བ་ན་ལ་ཕན་ང་བ་བ་ིར། །
drowa kün la pen shying dewé chir
To you who intend to pass into nirvāṇa,

བལ་པ་ང་་ལ་ེད་བགས་པར་ཡང་། །
kalpa shying gi dul nyé shyukpar yang
Remain, for aeons as many as the atoms in this world,

བདག་ས་ཐལ་མོ་རབ་ར་གསོལ་བར་བི། །
dak gi talmo rab jar solwar gyi
And bring well-being and happiness to all living beings.

7. Dedication

ག་འཚལ་བ་དང་མད་ང་བཤགས་པ་དང་། །
chaktsalwa dang chö ching shakpa dang
What little virtue I have gathered through my homage,

ེས་་་རང་བལ་ང་གསོལ་བ་། །
jesu yi rang kul shying solwa yi
Through offering, confession, and rejoicing,

ད་བ་ང་ཟད་བདག་ས་་བསགས་པ། །
gewa chungzé dak gi chi sakpa
Through exhortation and prayer — all of it

ཐམས་ཅད་བདག་ས་ང་བ་ིར་བོའོ། །
tamché dak gi changchub chir ngo o
I dedicate to the enlightenment of all beings!

Offering the Maṇḍala4

ༀ་ཿྃ༔ བདག་དང་མཐའ་ཡས་མས་ཅན་ི༔
om ah hung dak dang tayé semchen gyi
Oṃ āḥ hūṃ! On my own and all beings’ behalf,

ས་དང་ལོངས་ོད་ད་ཚོགས་ན༔
lü dang longchö gé tsok kün
All our bodies, possessions, and sources of merit,

ིང་བ་་རབ་་ར་བཅས༔ 11
ིང་བ་་རབ་་ར་བཅས༔
ling shyi rirab nyidar ché
The four continents, Mount Meru, the sun and the moon,

་་ལོངས་ོད་བསམ་་བ༔
lhami longchö sam mikhyab
The unimaginable delights of gods and humans,

ན་བཟང་མད་པ་ིན་ང་༔
kunzang chöpé trinpung ché
Continuously, with devotion,

ན་་འཆད་པར་ལ་ས་༔
gyün mi chepar trul jé té
I offer them all,

དན་མག་ན་ན་་བ་གམ༔
könchok rinchen tsawa sum
As the vast, cloud-like offerings of Samantabhadra,

ས་ང་ནོར་་་མཚོ་ལ༔
chösung norlha gyatso la
To the deities of the Three Jewels and the Three Roots,

ས་པས་ག་་འལ་བར་བི༔
güpé taktu bulwar gyi
And to the ocean of dharma protectors and all the wealth deities,

བསོད་ནམས་ཚོགས་ན་རབ་ོགས་ནས༔
sönam tsokchen rabdzok né
So that our great accumulation of merit may be perfected

་ས་ང་བ་ས་པར་ཤོག༔
yeshe nangwa gyepar shok
And the light of wisdom may illuminate the world!

ༀ་་་་ཝ་་་ི་ས་ར་མལ་་ཛ་་གྷ་ཿྃ༔
om guru deva dakini sarva ratna mandala pudza megha ah hung
oṃ guru-deva-ḍākinī-sarva-ratna-maṇḍala-pūjā-megha āḥ hūṃ

ས་མལ་ལ།
With this, offer the maṇḍala.

Prayer for the Fulfilment of Wishes5

ན་མོ༔ སངས་ས་ས་དང་ད་འན་དང་༔
namo sangye chö dang gendün dang
Namo! Buddha, Dharma, and Saṅgha,

་མ་་དམ་མཁའ་འོ་དང་༔
lama yidam khandro dang
Guru, Iṣṭadevatā, and Ḍākinī,

ས་ང་ནོར་་གར་ི་བདག༔
chösung norlha ter gyi dak
Dharma protectors, wealth deities and treasure-keepers,

་ས་གག་་་བོ་ལས༔
yeshe chik gi ngowo lé
All arising from the one wisdom essence,

རང་བན་མ་འགགས་ར་ཡང་ོན༔
rangshyin magak chiryang tön
Natural and unobstructed, manifesting in manifold ways,

གས་ེ་ིན་ལས་ད་པོ་ས༔
tukjé trinlé mepo ché
And through wondrous boundless compassionate activity,

འོ་ན་བས་དང་མན་ར་པ༔
dro kün kyab dang gön gyurpa
Serving as refuge and protection for beings.

མེན་བེ་བདག་ད་ེད་མས་ལ༔
khyentsé daknyi khyé nam la
To you, embodiments of wisdom and love,

ག་འཚལ་ིང་ནས་བས་་མ༔
chaktsal nying né kyab su chi
I pay homage and take refuge, with all my heart,

ས་དང་ལོངས་ོད་མད་པར་འལ༔
lü dang longchö chöpar bul
My bodies and possessions, all without exception, I present as offerings.

བདག་དང་མཐའ་ཡས་མས་ཅན་མས༔
dak dang tayé semchen nam
With your compassion, protect us always —

ག་་གས་ེས་བབས་མཛད་གསོལ༔ 13
ག་་གས་ེས་བབས་མཛད་གསོལ༔
taktu tukjé kyab dzé sol
Me and all other beings.

ནད་དང་གནོད་པ་་བ་དང་༔
né dang nöpa shyiwa dang
Please pacify all illness and harm

་དང་བསོད་ནམས་འལ་བ་དང་༔
tsé dang sönam pelwa dang
And increase our lifespan and merit.

བསམ་པ་དོན་མས་མ་ས་ན༔
sampé dön nam malü kün
Please bless us, so that all our wishes and aspirations

ས་བན་འབ་པར་ིན་ིས་ོབས༔
chö shyin drubpar jingyi lob
May be fulfilled in harmony with the Dharma.

ས་འདོད་དོན་གསོལ། ་ནས་ེ་ག་ེ་བན་ོལ་མ་ལ་མད་པ་ལན་གམ་འལ་ང་བོད་པ་ད་འདོན་པ་།
With this, make aspiration prayers. Then, recite the specific offering to the Noble Lady three times and recite the
Tantra of Praises:

Invocation

རང་ད་ད་ག་ན་ོགས་༔
rangnyi kechik dren dzok su
Instantaneously perfected through mere recollection,

ེ་བན་འཕགས་མ་ར་གསལ་བ༔
jetsün pakmé kur salwé
I appear vividly as the Noble Lady Tārā.

གས་ཀར་་ེང་ྃ་ང་༔
tukkar da teng tam janggu
In my heart, upon a moon disc dwells the green syllable tāṃ

་ལས་འོད་ར་དཔག་ཡས་འོས༔
dé lé özer pakyé trö
Which sends out infinite streams of light,

འཕགས་མ་མ་འལ་ར་གག་དང་༔
pakma namtrul nyerchik dang
Inviting the Noble Lady in her twenty-one manifestations

དན་མག་་མཚོ་ིན་འོ་བ༔ 14
དན་མག་་མཚོ་ིན་འོ་བ༔
könchok gyatso trin trowa
And the deities of the Three Jewels in a vast, cloud-like gathering

མན་ི་ནམ་མཁར་ན་ངས་ར༔
dün gyi namkhar chendrang gyur
Into the sky before me.

ྃ༔ ེ་ད་འོད་གསལ་ས་་དིངས༔
tam kyemé ösal chökü ying
Tāṃ! The unborn, luminous expanse of dharmakāya

འགགས་ད་འཕགས་མ་་ས་ར༔
gakmé pakmé yeshe kur
Arises as the Magical Net,6 in order to tame beings,

གང་འལ་་འལ་་བར་ཤར༔
gang dul gyutrul drawar shar
In the unobstructed wisdom-form of the Noble Lady,
In order that beings may be tamed.

ར་གགས་ ་་་ཛཿ
tsur shek arya taré dza
I implore you: please come, Noble Tārā!

བདག་དང་འོ་ལ་གས་བེ་ིར༔
dak dang dro la tuk tsé chir
For as long as I continue to offer to you,

ད་ི་་འལ་མ་ས་༔
nyi kyi dzutrul tu yi ni
Bhagavatī, please remain here,

་ིད་མད་པ་བདག་བིད་པ༔
jisi chöpa dak gyipa
Caring for me and each and every being

་ིད་བམ་ན་བགས་་གསོལ༔
desi chomden shyuk su sol
With love and compassion, through your miraculous power!

པ་ཀ་མ་་ཡ་ ཾ༔
pema kamala ya stam
padma-kamalāya stvam

General Offerings

ༀ༔ དས་འོར་ད་ལས་ང་བ་༔
om ngöjor yi lé jungwa yi
Oṃ! Actual offerings and those created by the mind,

ན་་བཟང་པོ་མད་ིན་ིས༔
kuntuzangpö chötrin gyi
Swirling cloud-banks of Samamtabhadra’s offerings,

ས་དིངས་ས་པར་བཀང་ས་༔
chöying gyepar kang jé té
Filling the whole expanse of dharmadhātu —

འཕགས་མ་ོལ་མ་འར་བཅས་མད༔
pakma drolma khor ché chö
I offer them to you, Noble Tārā and your retinue.

ༀ་ ་་་ས་པ་་་ར་བ་ཨཾ།  ཱཾ། ེ། ་། ཨ་ལོ་། གེ། ་་ ། ཤ་་ི་་

om arya taré sapariwara benza argham padam pupé dhupé aloké gendhé nevidé shapta
pratitsa soha

ས་ན་ངས་ང་མད་པ་ིར་འལ།
With this, invite the deities and make offerings.

Specific Maṇḍala Offering

ༀ་ཿྃ༔ ཁམས་གམ་ོད་བད་དཔལ་འོར་དང་༔
om ah hung kham sum nöchü paljor dang
Oṃ āḥ hūṃ! The three realms, environment and inhabitants, all richness and splendour,

བདག་ས་ལོངས་ོད་ད་ཚོགས་ན༔
dak lü longchö gé tsok kün
My body, possessions and each and every virtue,

གས་ེ་བདག་ད་མས་ལ་འལ༔
tukjé daknyi nam la bul
I offer to the lords of compassion.

བས་ནས་ིན་ིས་བབ་་གསོལ༔
shyé né jingyi lab tu sol
Accept them all and bestow your blessings, I pray.

ༀ་ས་ཏ་་ག་ཏ་ར་མ་ལ་་ཛ་ཧོ༔
om sarva tathagata ratna mandala pudza ho
oṃ sarva-tathāgata-ratna-maṇḍala-pūjā hoḥ

ས་མལ་ེ་ག་་ལ་ནས། བོད་པ་ལ་པོ་ད། ༀ་ེ་བན་མ་འཕགས་མ་ོལ་མ་ལ་ག་འཚལ་ལོ། །ག་

འཚལ་ོལ་མ་སོགས་ནས། ག་འཚལ་བ་་་་་གག བར་ཚར་གས་བོད། ལར་ཡང་། ༀ་དས་འོར་ད་
ལས་སོགས་མད་པ་དང་། མལ་ང་ར་ལ་ནས།
With that, make the specific maṇḍala offering and recite the King of Praises Tantra, the Twenty-One Verses of
Homage twice, and once again make offerings and present a maṇḍala as before.

ག་གཡས་མག་ིན་ག་་ད༔
chak yé chok jin chakgya nyi
Your right hand, held in the mudrā of supreme generosity,

བས་ིན་ག་ར་ར་པ་འོག༔
kyab jin chakgyar gyurpé ok
Takes up the mudrā of granting protection,

བདག་དང་བང་་ན་ད་ནས༔
dak dang sungja kün tsü né
Shielding me and all those to be protected,

འགས་པ་ན་ལས་དགས་དང་ར༔
jikpa kün lé ukyung gyur
And relieving us of every fear!

ས་མོས་ལ་ག་འཚལ་ར་གག་ཚར་གམ་བོད། ཡང་མད་པ་དང་མལ་ལ་ལ།
Then recite the Twenty-One Verses of Homage three times, and once again make offerings and present a maṇḍala
as above.

་ལས་བད་ི་་ན་བབས༔
ku lé dütsi chugyün bab
A continuous stream of amṛta flows down from your body,

རང་དང་བང་་ི་བོ་ནས༔
rang dang sungjé chiwo né
Through our crowns — my own and those of to be protected —

གས་་ས་ན་གང་བ་ས༔
shyuk té lü kün gangwa yi
And fills each and every cell of our bodies,

ིན་བས་མ་ས་གས་པར་ར༔ 17
ིན་བས་མ་ས་གས་པར་ར༔
jinlab malü shyukpar gyur
So that we receive your blessings entirely.

ས་མོས་ལ་ག་འཚལ་ར་གག་ཚར་བན་ཕན་ཡོན་བཅས་བོད།
Then recite the Twenty-One Verses of Homage, seven times through, followed by a single recitation of their
excellent benefits.

Torma Offering

གཏོར་མ་ཨ་ྀ་ཏས་བསང་།
Cleanse the torma with the following:

ༀ་བ་ཨ་ྀ་ཏ་་ི་ཧ་ན་ཧ་ན་ྃ་ཕཊ།
om benza amrita kundali hana hana hung pé
oṃ vajrāmṛta-kuṇḍali hana hana hūṃ phaṭ

་་བས་ང་།
And, purify it with:

ༀ་་་ཝ་ོ་ས་དྷ་་་ཝ་ོ྅།
om sobhava shuddho sarva dharma sobhava shuddho hang
oṃ svabhāva śuddhāḥ sarvadharmāḥ svabhāva śuddho ‘haṃ

ོང་པ་ངང་ལས་ༀ་ག་ལས༔
tongpé ngang lé om yik lé
Out of the state of emptiness arises the syllable oṃ

ན་ན་ོད་མག་ཡངས་པ་ནང་༔
rinchen nö chok yangpé nang
Which forms a vast lustrous vessel, the essence of various jewels.

འ་གམ་ལས་ང་གཏོར་མ་༔
dru sum lé jung torma ni
Within it, from the three syllables (oṃ, āḥ and hūṃ), the torma appears

ཟག་ད་་ས་བད་ིར་ར༔
zakmé yeshe dütsir gyur
And transforms into undefiled wisdom amṛta.

ༀ་ཿྃ༔
om ah hung
oṃ āḥ hūṃ

ལན་གམ།
Three times.

ༀ་ ་་་ས་པ་་་ར་་་བ་ལ་ཏ་ཁ་ཁ་་་་།
om arya taré sapariwara idam balingta kha kha khahi khahi
oṃ ārya-tāre saparivāra idaṃ baliṅta kha kha khāhi khāhi

ལན་གམ་ིས་གཙོ་མོ་དང༌།
Recite this mantra three times to make the offering to the principal Lady.

ༀ་ཨ་་རོ་་་ས་དྷ་ཎཾ་ ་་ཏོ་ༀ་ཿྃ་ཕཊ་་།
om akaro mukham sarva dharma nam adya nutpanen totta om ah hung pé soha
oṃ akāro mukhaṃ sarva-dharmāṇām ādyanutpannatvāt | oṃ āḥ hūṃ phaṭ svāhā

ལན་གམ་ིས་མོན་ཐབས་མས་ལ་ལ།
Recite this mantra three times to make the offering to all the guests.

The Request

ༀ༔ མད་ིན་གཏོར་མ་དམ་པ་འ༔
om chöjin torma dampa di
Oṃ! This pure torma, we offer.

་ས་ན་པོས་ེས་དངས་ལ༔
yeshe chenpö jé gong la
In your great primordial wisdom,

བ་བ་ན་པོར་བས་ནས་ང་༔
dewa chenpor shyé né kyang
Please enjoy it as great bliss,

དས་བ་མ་ས་ལ་་གསོལ༔
ngödrub malü tsal du sol
And grant us all the accomplishments.

ས་འདོད་དོན་གསོལ༔
Pray like this for the fulfilment of your wishes.

Offerings

Praise

ༀ༔ ང་བ་མཐའ་ཡས་པ་གས༔
om nangwa tayé pemé rik
Oṃ! You rose from the face of the triple world’s lord,

འག་ེན་དབང་ག་ཞལ་ལས་ང་༔
jikten wangchuk shyal lé jung
Taking birth into Amitābha’s lotus family.

སངས་ས་ན་ི་ིན་ལས་བདག༔
sangye kün gyi trinlé dak
Essence of all the buddhas’ activities,

འཕགས་མ་ོལ་མར་ག་འཚལ་བོད༔
pakma drolmar chaktsal tö
Noble Tārā, I offer you homage and praise!

བོད་པར་འོས་པ་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ། །
töpar öpa tamché la
To all those worthy of praise and admiration,

ང་ལ་ན་ི་ངས་ེད་ིས། །
shying dul kün gyi drang nyé kyi
With bodies as numerous as grains of sand,

ས་བད་པ་་མ་ན་། །
lü tüpa yi namkün tu
With deepest esteem and fervent devotion

མག་་དད་པས་བོད་པར་བི། །
chok tu depé töpar gyi
I constantly offer honour and praise.

ས་བོད། ཐལ་མོ་ར་ལ།
Thus offer praises. Then joining your palms, recite:

ེ་བན་འཕགས་མ་འར་དང་བཅས། །
jetsün pakma khor dangché
Noble Exalted Lady, together with your retinue.

དགས་ད་གས་ེས་བེར་དངས་ལ། །
mikmé tukjé tser gong la
Look lovingly upon me with referenceless compassion.

བདག་ས་་ར་གསོལ་བ་དོན། །
dak gi jitar solwé dön
Grant your blessings, so that my prayers and aspirations

གས་ད་འབ་པར་ིན་ིས་ོབས། །
gekmé drubpar jingyi lob
Are accomplished without any hindrance!

སངས་ས་བན་པ་དར་ང་ས། །
sangye tenpa dar shying gyé
Cause the teachings of the Buddha to flourish and spread!

བན་འན་གས་མན་ཞབས་པད་བན། །
tendzin tuktün shyabpé ten
Cause the holders of the teachings to live long and in harmony!

ར་འ་བར་ཆད་ན་་ང༌། །
nyertsé barché kün shyi shying
Pacify the obstacles that threaten them with harm!

བཤད་བ་ིན་ལས་འལ་བར་མཛོད། །
shedrub trinlé pelwar dzö
And cause teaching and practice to thrive and increase!

ནད་ག་འག་ོད་་བ་དང༌། །
né muk truktsö shyiwa dang
Pacify all illness, famine, conflict and dispute!

ས་ན་དཔལ་འོར་ང་་འལ། །
chöden paljor gong du pel
Increase the resources of devoted practitioners!

ས་ོང་ལ་པོ་མངའ་ཐང་ས། ། 21
ས་ོང་ལ་པོ་མངའ་ཐང་ས། །
chökyong gyalpö ngatang gyé
Extend the influence of leaders who protect the Dharma,

ལ་ཁམས་མཐའ་དས་བ་བར་མཛོད། །
gyalkham ta ü dewar dzö
And bring happiness to all lands, central and peripheral.

འགས་པ་བ་ག་ས་ན་འ། །
jikpa chudruk dümin chi
Protect me from the sixteen terrors and untimely death,

ི་ལམ་མཚན་ས་ངན་པ་དང༌། །
milam tsen té ngenpa dang
From inauspicious dreams and sinister omens,

འར་བ་ངན་སོང་ག་བལ་སོགས། །
khorwa ngensong dukngal sok
From the miseries of saṃsāra and its lower realms —

གནས་བས་མཐར་ག་འགས་ལས་ོབས། །
nekab tartuk jik lé kyob
From all momentary concerns and ultimate threats.

་བསོད་དབང་ཐང་ཉམས་ོགས་འལ། །
tsesö wangtang nyamtok pel
Increase my longevity, merit and fortune,7
Enhance my experience and realization.

་ད་ོག་པ་་འང་ང༌། །
mi gé tokpa minjung shying
Prevent the arising of non-virtuous thoughts,

ང་བ་མས་གས་ོལ་ད་ེས། །
changchub sem nyi tsolmé kyé
Cause twofold bodhicitta to effortlessly arise,

བསམ་དོན་ས་བན་འབ་པར་མཛོད། །
samdön chö shyin drubpar dzö
And fulfil all wishes that accord with the Dharma!

འ་་ང་བ་ིང་པོ་བར། །
di ni changchub nyingpö bar
From now until I reach the very heart of awakening,

་གག་པོ་ལ་མ་བན་། ། 22
་གག་པོ་ལ་མ་བན་། །
bu chikpo la ma shyindu
Just as a mother cares for her only child,

འལ་ད་གས་ེ་ན་ིས་གགས། །
dralmé tukjé chen gyi zik
Gaze on me continuously, with eyes of compassion,

ད་དང་དེར་ད་མཛད་་གསོལ། །
nyi dang yermé dzé du sol
And make me inseparable from you, I pray!

ས་འདོད་པ་དོན་ལ་གསོལ་བ་ད་པར་་བཏབ་ང་།
With that, make this specific prayer for the accomplishment of your wishes.

Invocation of Tārā’s Blessings

གས་དམ་བལ་བས།
Then, with an invocation of commitments:

མན་བེད་འོད་་རང་ལ་མ༔
dünkyé ö shyu rang la tim
The front visualization melts into light and dissolves into me.

དེར་ད་ད་་ིན་བས་པས༔
yermé nyi du jinlab pé
Blessed as inseparable,

རང་ད་འཕགས་མ་ོལ་མ་༔
rangnyi pakma drolmé ku
I am Noble Tārā,

ང་ལ་རང་བན་ད་པར་ར༔
nang la rangshyin mepar gyur
Appearing yet devoid of true existence.

ས་རང་ད་འཕགས་མ་གསལ་ང་དང་ང་ལ་ལ་མས་བང་ེ་་་བ་པ་བས་པ་་འབ་མཐར།
Thus concentrate on the clear appearance and vajra-pride of yourself as the Noble Lady, and recite the ten-syllable
mantra as many times as you can:

om taré tuttaré turé soha
oṃ tāre tuttāre ture svāhā

ག་བ་དང༌།
Then recite the hundred-syllable mantra.

མ་ེད་ཡོངས་་མ་ཚང་དང༌། །
ma nyé yongsu ma tsang dang
For anything lacking or incomplete,

གང་ཡང་ས་པ་མ་མས་པ། །
gangyang nüpa machipa
Or beyond my ability to perform —

འར་་བི་བ་གང་ནོངས་པ། །
dir ni gyiwa gang nongpa
Whatever mistakes I have committed,

་ན་ོད་ིས་བཟོད་མཛད་གས། །
dé kün khyö kyi zö dzé rik
Please bear witness and forgive them all!

ས་བོད་ལ་ནོངས་པ་བཤགས།
Thus confess mistakes and faults.

Request to Depart

ༀ་ེད་ིས་མས་ཅན་དོན་ན་མཛད། །
om khyé kyi semchen dön kün dzé
Oṃ! You, who act for the welfare of sentient beings

ེས་་མན་པ་དས་བ་ོལ། ། 24
ེས་་མན་པ་དས་བ་ོལ། །
jesu tünpé ngödrub tsol
And bestow accomplishment accordingly —

སངས་ས་ལ་་གགས་་གསོལ། །
sangye yul du shek su sol
Please depart for your buddhafields,

ར་ཡང་ོན་པར་མཛད་་གསོལ། །
lar yang jönpar dzé du sol
But return, again and again!

བ་ཿ
benza muh
vajra muḥ

ས་བོད་ལ་མོན་ཐབས་ི་་མས་གགས།
Thus request the invited deities to depart.

Dissolution

་དང་རང་མས་དེར་ད་པ༔
lha dang rangsem yermé pa
The deity is inseparable from my own mind,

ས་དིངས་གག་མ་ངང་་བཞག༔
chöying nyukmé ngang du shyak
So I settle into the genuine, natural expanse.

ས་གནས་གས་ི་་བ་བང༌།
With this, sustain the view of nature of things.

Dedication and Aspiration

ད་བ་འ་ས་ར་་བདག །
gewa di yi nyurdu dak
Through the positivity and merit of this, may I swiftly

འཕགས་མ་ོལ་མ་འབ་ར་ནས། །
pakma drolma drub gyur né
Attain the realization of Noble Tārā, and thereby

འོ་བ་གག་ང་མ་ས་པ། །
drowa chik kyang malüpa
May every single sentient being

dé yi sa la göpar shok
Likewise reach the state of perfection!

ས་བོ་ོན་།
Thus dedicate and make aspirations.

Prayer of Auspiciousness

ད་བན་ནོར་དང་མ་པ་བཟང་པོ་ར། །
yishyin nor dang bumpa zangpo tar
Like the wish-fulfilling jewel and vase of plenty,

བསམ་པ་དོན་ན་ཐོགས་ད་ོལ་མཛད་པ། །
sampé dön kün tokmé tsol dzepa
You instantly fulfil all wishes without obstacle or delay.

ེ་བན་ོལ་མ་ལ་བ་ས་བཅས་ིས། །
jetsün drolma gyalwa sé ché kyi
May all be auspicious so that I remain forever in your care,

་འལ་གས་ེས་ོང་བ་བ་ས་ཤོག །
mindral tukjé kyongwé tashi shok
Noble Lady Tārā, together with the victors and their heirs!

ས་སོགས་ས་པ་བོད་ལ་་ཏོག་འཐོར་རོ། །
Make auspicious prayers such as this, and scatter flowers.

འཇམ་མན་་ཎས་ག་ིགས་ལགས་སོ།།
