North American Scientific

-North American Scientific is engaged in the development, manufacture, and sale of radioisotope products for the treatment of
cancer.
Radioisotope
-Each radioisotope has a characteristic disintegration or semi-life period. Energy may be liberated mostly in the form of alpha
(helium nuclei), beta, (electrons or positrons), or gamma (electromagnetic energy) rays.
-Radioactive isotope, also called radioisotope, radionuclide, or radioactive nuclide, any of several species of the same chemical
element with different masses whose nuclei are unstable and dissipate excess energy by spontaneously emitting radiation in the
form of alpha, beta, and gamma rays
North American Scientific was founded in 1987 and is based in Chatsworth, California, United States.
College of Science at Oregon State
-This university, located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, offers some of the best courses on the globe for subjects like Marine
Science, Robotics and Forestry, presenting a full portfolio of physical, mathematical, statistical and natural science degrees.
The university’s beautiful campus combines classic American architecture with innovative research and science facilities. Oregon
State is in Corvallis, ranked one of the safest, smartest, greenest small cities in the US. This year, it was named a top five Most
Beautiful College Town and Best Small City for Business and Careers in the country.
Temple University in Philadelphia
-will propel you towards achieving your goals, from ending global warming and saving endangered species to using advanced data
mining to improve human health and wellbeing. Offering more than 30 undergraduate majors and 11 graduate programmes, the
CST has the right course for you, regardless of whether you choose to specialise in medicine, dentistry, the pharmaceutical or
environmental industries or computer and information sciences.
Faculty of art and science, university of Toronto
-This impressive faculty is one of the most comprehensive and diverse academic divisions in North America, comprising 29
departments, seven colleges, and 46 interdisciplinary centres, institutes and programmes. The faculty hosts 300 undergraduate
programmes and 63 graduate degrees. Faculty members include many of the world’s leading scholars and scientists, whose
discoveries and innovations have advanced our understanding of the world and continue to address many of society’s most pressing
issues.
Faculty of science, university of Ottawa
The university, located in the Canadian capital, is the largest bilingual (English-French) university in the world, boasting a 97 percent
employment rate for its graduates. There’s a plethora of degree programmes available in disciplines such as biopharmaceutical
science, biotechnology and ophthalmic medical technology. Here, you’ll be encouraged to open your mind, explore, question and

Technology
Historic success
The so-called .com bubble in the late 90’s and early 00’s produced online retail giant Amazon.com and the equally popular
ebay.com. 1998 saw the birth of Google.com which has become the world’s no.1 internet search engine. A few years later saw the
launch of social media heavyweights Facebook (2004), Youtube (2005) and Twitter (2006) which have become a daily digital habit for
millions of people around the globe. Although in existence before the 00’s, Apple exploded onto the scene in 2007 with the first
smart phone (iPhone).
Fast forward to 2017 and we can see the ERP, CRM and Cloud database and technology firm Oracle.com transforming the way we
use and store data. For this reason, North America has become a haven for tech start-ups and as a result has attracted some of the
finest technology professionals to work in the region.
Once the origin of several chip manufacturing companies (who used silicon as a main material in the manufacturing process), Silicon
Valley in California has become the leading technology hotspot in the world.
The Deloitte Technology Fast 500
-is one of the most objective rankings for technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences, and energy tech companies. It was
created to recognize the effort and dedication of the fastest-growing technology companies—both public and private—in North
America.
ILSI North America (The International Life Sciences Institute)
- is the only US-Canadian organization that brings together scientists from government, academia and industry to uphold the
scientific integrity and objectivity of nutrition and food safety science so that the resulting data and its applications are used ethically
to improve food systems for the betterment of public health.
-The International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI) was incorporated in 1978 to generate collaborative science to improve human and
environmental health and safety worldwide. Today, ILSI has grown to include 17 independent branches and a Research Foundation.
ILSI North American is the largest of the ILSI branches, established in 1991 as a public, non-profit scientific organization. ILSI North
America engages academic, government, and industry experts in a neutral forum – by supporting professional and educational
programs; by conducting research, workshops and seminars; and by authoring peer-reviewed publications.
ILSI North America's programs are primarily funded with support provided by our diverse industry membership. Today, prominent
researchers from industry and academia jointly lead the organization, guiding our collective efforts to conduct nutrition and food
safety research, harmonize the use of scientific data and its application, and encourage scientific dialogue.
North American Contributions
-Let's start off with just a very small sample of some of the more amazing and important inventions that occurred in the United
States. The man widely credited with inventing the very first commercially practical light bulb was U.S. inventor Thomas Edison. His
invention, in 1879, turned night into day and brought us greater safety and increased productivity by allowing us to work more
efficiently with better lighting throughout the night.
In 1903, the Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur Wright, built the world's first successful airplane and were the first humans to make
a controlled, sustained, and powered flight in history. It's thanks to these two brothers that you are able to travel anywhere in the
world in an airplane.
The plane that made the first controlled, powered, heavier-than-air flight.

Airplanes, cars, even your phone, rely on another important U.S. invention, GPS, the Global Positioning System, a space-based
navigation system that can pinpoint your location and tell you where you need to go. U.S. scientists Roger Less Easton, Sr., Bradford
Parkinson, and Ivan A. Getting were three prominent people responsible for the development of this technology that was first
launched in 1978.
Of course, North American inventions are by no means limited to the U.S.
The Walkie-Talkie was, in great part, invented by Canadians, and at first allowed the military a better means by which to
communicate.
The modern snowmobile was invented by Canadian Joseph-Armand Bombardier. His invention allows us to have fun but also has
practical uses, like the transportation of goods and even victims of natural disasters.
In Mexico in 1951, Luis Ernesto Miramontes Cardenas and others created the first oral contraceptive by synthesizing hormones from
yams. Unfortunately, the resources and funding to test it were not available.
Mexico is also the birthplace of color TV, which was invented by Guillermo Gonzalez Camarena. His systems were later used by NASA
to take images of Jupiter.
