Grade: 1 Date & Duration:

Trainee Personal Goals

I am working on:

Implementing learning were the students are applying the skills that have been introduce in the lesson.

Lesson Focus

Adding numbers consisting of tens in format.

Lesson Outcomes

Students will be able to: identify the tens to add them.

Links to Prior Learning

This is the first time that place value has been introduced.

21st Century Skills

Communication: In this lesson the teacher will use this 21st century skill because that will help to
encourage the students to practice English language and learn different skills. Such as: listening, have a
good attitude and develop self-confidence.

Key vocabulary

Tens, ones, addition and place value.

Possible problems for learners Solutions to possible problems

 Behavior problem in the centers  Give clear instructions to all of the groups before
 Misunderstanding the concept. they start activities. / Create behavior chart
 Change the learning style to fit all of the
students.
 Students who finishes the activity  Plan extra activities
early.

In pairs, students will work together by

having a card with math problems.

They will use ten blocks to help them

to add tens.
Differentiation activities (Support)

Mastered students:

Students will have cards they need to read the two numbers.
Then, they will match the correct with another card.

Develop students:

Students will read problem that in the card and they will read the first and second numbers, so
they will use block tens to make each number.

Then, they will count all numbers to write the answer in the card.

Emerging students:
Students will have a card with math problem.
Students will read each number and they will use the cubs to make the numbers.
Then students will cubs of two numbers to find the total.

feedback

On Monday, I taught grade 1 " how to count tens by using ten blocks." I was focusing on place
value to help the students how to add numbers.

I DID WELL

The three things that I did well are, first thing I used place value model that assist the students
how to add two tens, so I was explaining for the learner we count tens by adding these number
together. That increased student's comprehension from the first example I used. when I gave
examples, I used ten blocks to show the number and I wrote the numbers in place value
model.

In addition, I used GRM when I explained to give students chance to apply the concept. In
each example, I was giving the students chance to turn and talk to discuss their idea, so I was
selecting students randomly for participation using name sticks.

Also, my activities were hands-on activities and students were engaged to do these activities. I
meet my goal because most of students understand the lesson and that was shown in the
assessment.

IMPROVING

In the lesson the guided practise was too long so I need to improve myself to use the time for
students learning to make sure all students were on take and engaged and by giving them pairs
work that allow them to apply the concepts before doing their activities.

Also, I need to think about strategy that manage student's behaviour because in the carpet
some of students were talking so I can manage that by using traffic light strategy to reduce
misbehave.
In the next lesson, I would like to give 2 examples explaining the lesson for the students then
they can apply the concept in pairs while they are doing that I can monitoring the students and
give support to them.
