 INTRODUCTION

Environment is the surrounding things. It includes living things and natural

forces. The environment of living things provides conditions for development and
growth as well as danger and damage. Among the living things, human is the
creature that damages the environment the most. There are many factors that
cause damage to the environment, such as deliberate environmental destruction,
the gas that causes air pollution, the waste plant, and buildings.

Building that was designed by the architecture can damage environment. It

can even be said that the architect is a profession of environmental destruction
number one of the world. Nevertheless, there are many architects who designed
without regarding to the nature and the state of the environment in the
surrounding. It damages the ecosystem in the area where the building is built.

In this era, the need of boards are increasing. This can affect the
acceleration of urbanization and social impact. That’s the reason why an architect
in designing the building must understand what is environment so that his works
does not give a negative impact.

Environment consists of biotic and abiotic components. Abiotic

components are all inanimate such as land, air, water, climate, humidity, light,
sound. While the biotic components are all things that animate such as plants,
animals, humans and micro-organisms (viruses and bacteria).

From the description above, it can be said that the definition of the
architecture of the environment is a science wake build related to urban planning,
landscape planning, urban design, interior and exterior that takes into account the
physical condition of natural resources, including water, soil, air, climate, light,
sound and moisture. Architecture environment is very closely linked to green
architecture (green architecture) as equal - equally related to natural resources.

Architect is a person or entity registered, licensed or otherwise authorized

to use the title "architect" and to practice architecture in a province or territory.
The most basic definition of an architect is a professional who is qualified to design
and provide advice - both aesthetic and technical - on built objects in our public and
private landscapes. But this definition barely scratches the surface of an architect's
role. Architects serve as trusted advisors, their role is holistic, blending diverse
requirements and disciplines in a creative process, while serving the public interest
and addressing health and safety matters.

But in this case, architect is an expert in the fields of architecture,

engineering expert or experts of the built environment. The scope of work of an
architect is very broad, ranging from the scope of the interior, the scope of the
building, the scope of the building complex, to the city and regional scope.
Therefore, more precisely defines the architect as an expert in the field of
architecture, a design or built environment. An architect must have a sensitivity to
the environment in the surrounding areas.

Why an architect should have a sensitivity to the surrounding environment?

Concern for the environment and ecology should be held throughout the architects
because they’re the bulding designer. Works of architecture in the form of a large
building usually takes a lot of energy from nature and also disrupt environmental
who are around large buildings, such as water, electricity, wind, sun, as well as the
homes of a small shortage of water and electricity because most used for such a
large building.

The building also may be able to

reflect sunlight and block the wind so that
residential areas will be hot, stuffy and too
glare. Therefore, an architect must be
thorough and careful in designing projects,
so that projects are built not to adversely
affect the surrounding environment.

When architect doesn’t pay

problem, our planet will damage too, and we can’t live on it no more. Whereas,
environment or nature is the largest material provider for an architect in realizing

work.

That’s why architect must consider the surrounding environment when

constructing a building. An architect must understand about how to construct a
building to minimize environmental damage. In essence, a good architecture is the
care for the environment, understand about the environment and ecosystem, and
know the importance factors in the environment and apply them when designing a
building.

One of the best ways that can

help architects in protecting the
environment is a green architecture.

 CONCLUSION

Many architectures have less attention to the environment, even though

the architect has to understand the meaning of the environment for living things.
So many of them still give bad impacts for the environment and surroundings on
building. However there are architects who care about the environment those are
trying to create the eco-friendly building, environmentally friendly and energy
efficient for the preservation of nature and the environment for the sake of a better
future. In essence, a good architecture is the care for the environment, understand
what the environment and ecosystems, and to know the important factors in the
environment and apply them when designing a building. So that, architects will be
one of the people who try to heal the damaged environment.
