U.V.light(366nm) one spot appears at Rf 0.83 (blue),(ii)
On spraying with Anisaldehyde sulphuric acid three spots
appear at 0.31(blue), 0.50(blue) and 0.72(grey).
Pharmacology The fruit and seed mother tincture were safe up to dose
level of 0.1 ml /100 g. b.w. in mice and 0.15 ml /100 g
.b.w. in rats, respectively. The drug does not show anti-
inflammatory action, fall in blood pressure & analgesic
activities but shows antipyretic effect.

3. Pharmacognosy Part used: Dried bark.

karchi Stone cells arranged in concentric tangential bands,

conessi or calcium oxalate. Laticiferous ducts containing brownish
tellichery bark contents present in phloem. Rosettes or prisms of
calcium oxalate and starch present throughout
parenchymatous tissue.
Physico-chemical TLC studies:-
using chloroform: methanol (9:1v/v) as mobile phase and
on spraying the plate with Dragendorff’s reagent six
orange spots appear at Rf 0.20, 0.30, 0.65, 0.70, 0.80 and
0.90.
