A. PURPOSE
This document is issued for guidance of Excavation Work for Cable Route of CCTV
and Communication System at Coal Yard in Tanjung Jati B Expansion (Java-4) Coal
Fired Steam Power Plant project.

B. SCOPE OF WORK
This method statement describes a proper work procedure shall be carried out during
the excavation stage as per specification drawings.

2. Excavation
2.1. The area to be excavated shall be properly marked and clear before
starting the works
2.2. The digger starts digging the ground using tools and equipment
2.3. The depth of excavation shall be periodically checked to avoid over
excavation.

2.4. All excavated material shall be kept a minimum of 1.0 meter from the
edge of excavation
c. Backfilling Work
Backfilling shall commence using similar excavated material. Backfilling work
need to be done for the following:
1. A layer of sand will be introduced at bottom of trench
2. The direct buried cables pipe will be laid on the sand layer and shall be
separated based on the cable route classification
3. Appropriate concrete or tile covers will be provided between the ground
and buried cables along the direct burial cable route
4. The marking of cable routes with warning tapes or sign poles will be
provided for direct buried cables
5. Back filling using similar excavated material followed with compaction
shall continue till final level is achieved
d. Inspection
Inspection of Excavation Work should be accomplished & recorded by designer,
supervisor and owner. Acceptance of project should be processed step by step
and the quality of the process should meet the design requirement.
Inspection will be held during the activity until the end of Excavation Work. The
sequence for inspection is:
1. Visual check during installation and after finish installation
During pipe installation, visual check for installation should be held by QC
team and followed by Supervisor & Owner team.
Visual check item for this sequence such as:
a. Check for pipe Orientation and alignment
b. Coordinate & elevation

E. EQUIPMENT
Equipment for Excavation Work such as:

1. Hoe, Fork Hoe

2. Generator
3. Gloves
4. Safety Equipment like Safety Shoes and Helmet

F. SAFETY
 During a work sequence started, the safety sign should be apply include road
barricade
 Worker should be follow safety tool box meeting before to work
 Safety man and supervisor should be supervised all of time
 APD (Alat Pelindung Diri) :
o Safety Helmet
o Safety Glasses
o Safety Shoes
o Gloves
