LESSON PLAN
School level : senior high school
Study : Mathematics
Class : XI
A. Core Competencies
1 Live and practice the teachings of the religion he adheres to.
2 Demonstrate honest behavior, discipline, responsibility, caring (mutual
cooperation, cooperation, tolerance, peace), courtesy, responsiveness, and pro-
active as part of the solution to various problems in interacting effectively with
the social and natural environment and putting themselves in the mirror nation in
world association.
3 Understanding, applying, and analyzing factual, conceptual, procedural
knowledge based on his curiosity about science, technology, art, culture, and
humanities with humanity, nationality, state and civilization insights related to
the causes of phenomena and events, and applying procedural knowledge to the
fields specific studies according to their talents and interests to solve problems.
4 Processing, reasoning, and presenting in the concrete and abstract realms related
to the development of what he learned in school independently, and being able
to use methods according to scientific rules.
B. Basic Competencies
Applying the concept of arithmetic sequences and series.
C. Indicator
1 Describe arithmetic sequences and series based on their characteristics.
2 Determine the term n arithmetic sequence using n formulas.
3 Determine the number of n terms of an arithmetic series using n formulas.
4 Tolerant in the process of solving different and creative problems.
5 Predicting arithmetic sequence patterns and presents the results of finding
arithmetics sequence patterns.
D. Learning Objectives
1 Students can describe arithmetic sequences and series based on their
characteristics.
2 Students can determine the term n arithmetic sequence using n formulas.
3 Students can determine the number of n terms of an arithmetic series using n
formulas.
4 Students can tolerant in the process of solving different and creative problems.
5 Students can predicting arithmetic sequence patterns and presents the results of
finding arithmetics sequence patterns.
E. Learning Materials
1 Arithmetic sequences (𝑈𝑛 )
A sequences 𝑈1 , 𝑈2 , 𝑈3 , … , 𝑈𝑛−1 , 𝑈𝑛 can called arithmetic sequence if the
difference between two consecutive term is always constan. That different is
denoted by “b”. Suppose “a” declares the first term, “n” declares many terms.
For example: 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, . . .
𝑛 𝑛
𝑆𝑛 = (𝑎 + 𝑈𝑛 ) 𝑎𝑡𝑎𝑢 𝑆𝑛 = [2𝑎 + (𝑛 − 𝑏)𝑏]
2 2
With:
a= first term = 𝑈1
b= different between 2 terms
F. Learning Methods
Lectures, questions and answer, assigments with individual works, and
homework.
G. Learning Steps
No Activities Times Method
𝑈25 = 𝑎 + (𝑛 − 1)𝑏
𝑈25 = 1 + (25 − 1)2
𝑈25 = 1 + (24)2
𝑈25 = 1 + 48
𝑈25 = 49
So, the value of the 𝑈25 is 49.
The teacher asks about
understanding the material that
has been delivered.
b. Elaboration:
The teacher give assigment to
the students.
After working the assigment is
complete, the teacher instruct
one student to explain the
answer in the board.
Another students pay attention
and are given the opportunity to
give a response or solution if the
answer false.
The teacher asks if there are
difficulties in doing the
assigment.
c. Confirmation
The teacher strengthens the
results of the presentation and Homework
responds the questions.
The teacher give homework for
students.
The teacher asks collect that
home work next meeting.
3 Closing: 5
The teacher and the students minutes
improve to go home.
Before to go home the teacher
and the students pray together

1. Students can determine a. It is known that an
the term n arithmetic arithmetic sequence: 2, 5,
sequence using n 8, 11, 14, . . . 𝑈𝑛 .
formulas. Determine the 𝑛𝑡ℎ term
formula in the arithmetic
sequence!
b. It is known that 𝑈2 +
𝑈4 = 12 and𝑈3 + 𝑈5 =
16, then the 7𝑡ℎ term of
the sequence is?
Discussion:
1. a. Known:
The series: 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, … , 𝑈𝑛
𝑎=2
𝑏=3
Question: formula 𝑈𝑛 ?
𝑈𝑛 = 𝑎 + (𝑛 − 1)𝑏
𝑈𝑛 = 2 + (𝑛 − 1)3
𝑈𝑛 = 3𝑛 − 1
So, formula 𝑈𝑛 is 𝑈𝑛 = 3𝑛 − 1.
Equation (2):
a + 3b = 8
⇒ 6 - 2b + 3b = 8
⇒6+b=8
⇒b=2
So, the first term of the sequence is 2 and the 7th term of the arithmetic
sequence is:
𝑈7 = a + 6b
𝑈7 = 2 + 6 (2)
𝑈7 = 14
2. a. Known:
a = 17
Different = b = U2-U1 = 20-17 = 3
Amount of 30 first term = S30
𝑛
𝑆𝑛 = 2 (2𝑎 + (𝑛 − 1)𝑏)
30
𝑆30 = (2.17 + (30 − 1)3)
2
= 15 (34 + 29.3)
= 15 (34 + 87)
= 15.121
= 1,815
b. Known:
𝑈3 = 14
a + (3-1) b = 14
a + 2b = 14 ...... (first equation)
𝑈7 = 26
a + (7-1) b = 26
a + 6b = 26 .... (equation two)
