Currently I am in the first year of studying Fashion
Design at Nottingham Trent University. I feel that I have
already learned so much and my skills have grown and
improved immensely through the workshops we have
in Pattern Cutting, Manufacture, 2D skills and CAD. We
have completed our first project in which I made a
Jacket with shadow folding inspired by Berlin
architecture during the Cold War and received a 2:1.
For our current project we are working with the charity
Emmanuel House which supports the homeless. I have
made two Outerwear pieces by upcycling garments
which they are unable to sell in their charity shop.
I attended Dame Alice Owen’s School in Potters Bar.
GCSE’S: I achieved nine A’s and 2 A*’s.
ALEVELS: A in Textiles, B in German and Psychology
For my personal research project in German I chose to
look at German designers with the focus on sustainable
fashion.

and resilient and I feel that my various experiences of fashion
and textiles have given me an insight of the commitment
required to pursue a degree and further employment in
fashion design.
I enjoy reading, have an interest in sustainability and enjoy
sports . Additionally, I really enjoy attending talks and visiting
galleries, museums and exhibitions related to fashion and art.
A few memorable exhibitions include Balenciaga: Shaping
Fashion in the V&A , Diana: Her Fashion Story at Kensington
Palace, The M&S archive in Leeds, Azedine Alaïa: The
Couturier in the Design Museum. I also have been on a tour of
the V&A’s Clothworkers’ Centre at Blythe House.
Workshops I have taken part in include a stitch workshop
inspired by the May Morris: Art & Life exhibition at the William
Morris Gallery, Fashion Drawing at the Fashion and Textile
Museum, and a traditional woodblock printing workshop at
the British Museum after viewing the Hokusai: Beyond the
Great Wave exhibition where I learned how to layer prints to
create complex pieces. These experiences really sparked an
appreciation for historic pieces.

By working H&M I have had an insight into the
workings of a shop belonging to a multi-national fast
fashion retail company. By working in the warehouse,
preparing products for display, organising and
replenishing items on the shop floor and till interactions I
have gained in-depth knowledge of the steps required in
bringing garments to the customers
Work experience for a week in November 2015 at Ciment Pleating.
• Being the oldest pleating firm in the UK and with a
reputation of the best in the country their client list is
extensive. I was incredibly excited to assist on projects for
Strictly Come Dancing and Downton Abbey. I also
learned more about the importance of fabric choice.
Volunteering in Berlin in July 2015 for the manufacture of love
heart cushions, a family friend’s charity project for breast cancer
patients recovering from their operation. They were created with
the purpose of relieving discomfort and help healing by preventing
the arm rubbing on the wound.
Helping as a dresser for third year students at NTU Fashion Show
and at Graduate Fashion Week.
