Study Habits for College Students

Every college student can relate to the dreadful feeling of studying for hours for an

exam. In college, students struggle to make the time to study because they’re juggling

between multiple classes, working, and maintaining a social life. Study habits either make or

break a student’s success in college. There are three different types of students. The students

who don’t study at all, the students who study last minute, and the students who plan and

schedule their studying in advance.

The students who don’t study at all have bad time management habits. These students

are known to invest their time irresponsibly by partying, hanging out with friends, and

working too much. These students are the ones who have adopted lackadaisical attitudes and

have too much going on in their personal lives to devote time to study. They do not have the

will power to sit down, focus and study. Whatever the case is, students who do not study

receive poor results on their exams. Their success in college is limited due to their lack of

effort. If the plan is to do good in college, then it is crucial to make sure to put in the time to

study.

Putting in the time to study, means putting in the time! The type of students who think

that with minimal studying, a high grade is achievable, and that’s not the case. Most of these

students have a hard time understanding the material, but this is due to not putting enough

time into studying. These students are usually confused to as to why they are failing. Most of

these students think that college is like high school, where they can skate by and still

somehow pass. These are the students who procrastinate and wait until the last minute to
study. For that reason, they get what is called “last minute results.” Goals of receiving good

grades, means that you will have to prompt studying ahead of time.

The best thing that a student can do is to make sure that they set aside the time

required to be a successful student. This means that you plan and schedule a study date and

time. This way, plans can be made around study time. These students are especially known

for being responsible, time savvy students. The reason these students get good grades is

because they earned them by taking every necessary step in working towards them. They set

their standards high, which results in receiving the grades that they deserve. Most college

students should strive to be this kind of student.

Every college students study habits differ. Some students often wait until the last

minute to study, resulting in a routine of procrastination. On the other hand, students’ let the

stress of their lives to get in the way, which does not allow time for studying. Other students

go above and beyond to set up a schedule in advance to study.
