Dear Healthcare Professional:

Good day! Thank you for your interest in our American Heart Association (AHA) Life Support courses.
The AHA continuously updates and publishes resuscitation guidelines which set the standard for
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) protocols around the world and make up the basis for the AHA
courses used to educate millions of healthcare professionals each year. AHA Life Support courses teach
the latest and most effective resuscitation practices using the best techniques in instruction and
simulation. Our commitment to quality training makes AHA the certification of choice for hospitals both
here and abroad.

The Academy of Emergency Sciences (AES) is glad to offer these courses to you. Below is an overview
of the different courses we provide:

COURSE CONTENT
Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Course
• High quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
• The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
• Use of an AED
• Effective ventilations using a barrier device
• Importance of teams in a multi-rescuer CPR
• Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider Course

use of an AED
• Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
• Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
• Airway management
• Related pharmacology
• Management of ACS & Stroke
• Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team

WHAT MAKES TRAINING WITH US DIFFERENT?

While there are many training centers that you can choose from, the Academy of Emergency Sciences
offers an advantage that students won’t get anywhere else --- experience. Lots of it! Our AHA courses are
taught and supervised by actively practicing Emergency Medicine specialists who resuscitate the critically
ill on an almost daily basis. We confidently teach skills like ECG interpretation, team management,
defibrillation, intubation, cardioversion, and pacing, among others because we’ve performed them on
multiple occasions on actual patients. We do not merely talk about them in theory. Our work in the ER
allows us to teach resuscitation from an authentic point of view and bridge gaps between classroom
know-how and real world skills. This in turn gives our students the confidence and competence needed to
step-up when their patient’s life is on the line.

Emergency care is our calling; education, our passion.
