Platform
The platform that I will be using will be Google. The reason why this platform is used is
because students can research and create documents, presentations, and even spreadsheets
all on one domain. Google works on any operating system that the students may bring in.
The Google Platform also allows multiple students to work on one assignment at the
same time.

Accommodations
All classrooms have six desktop computers in them along with a class set of chrome
books. Students that do not bring their own technology will work from the devices in the
classroom.

Groups
Depending on the assignment students will be grouped by operating systems. Mac (iOS)
and PC (droid) are all capable of the same thing, but most times take different steps to
accomplish goals. Another way students will be grouped will be by learning levels. There
will be heterogeneous and homogeneous groups depending on the goal of the assignment.

Apps for Students

CHICKTIONARY
Cost: Main game is free, Puzzle packs $.99 each
Review: This app is about building words with the 7 letters that are given. It is cute and
visually appealing because the letters are on "chicks" and the words go on eggs in an egg
crate. It is great for those who struggle with spelling and/or dislike spelling/English
because it is a fun way to learn. You can do a short, timed version or a longer version
when you play. My high school students even like it.

DROID SPELL
Cost: Lite version free, Full version $2.99
Review: This is an educational, interactive spelling game that teaches the importance of
letter and word recognition. It includes human voice, images, over 130 words, and allows
you to change difficulty.
GRAMMAR EXPRESS SERIES
Cost: Free for lite versions, full versions $.99-$3.99
Review: Grammar Express is a series of apps that allows users to learn and review every
aspect of the English language from verbs, to nouns, to everything in between. Each app
has numerous quizzes which allows users to check their understanding. These apps have
everything your students will need to know about grammar.

A
STORYKIT
Cost: Free
Review: Have you ever wanted your students to create a storyboard or comic strip as an
assignment but not had the materials? With the StoryKit app students can create a
storybook with pictures, text, and sounds all from the iPad or iPhone. This app can help
bring assignments alive to students and make learning fun. An English teacher could have
their students illustrate a segment from a book reading assignment or a History teacher
could have students illustrate George Washington’s winter at Valley Forge. There are too
many options to mention for in-class usage. Try it out, it’s free!

KHAN ACADEMY KIDS

Cost: Free
Review: This interactive app allows kids to manipulate shapes, letters and numbers
throughout. Kids can learn reading, language, writing, math, social-emotional
development, problem-solving skills, and motor development. Open-ended activities like
drawing, storytelling, and coloring encourage creativity and self-expression.

READING COMPREHENSION BOOSRT

Cost: $3.99
Review: An interactive bookmark system to help deepen readers' appreciation of a text.
Can be used with paper or digital books from early years to early teens!
