TSC Replacement MTS2 /MTS4
Description
TSC replacement
Disconnect the PSU Input power
Wear an antistatic wrist strap.
Take a note and disconnect all cables connected to the TSC.
Unscrew the TSC bottom and top screws.
Gently slide the TSC module and disconnect the ribbon cables connected at the back of the module.
Install the new module after connecting the back ribbon cable.
Screw the top and bottom screws to secure the module in place.
Connect all the front cables including the Power supply cable.
Start you terminal Emulator application on your Laptop.( Procomm Plus version 4.8)
Once the TSC has finished the boot sequence , connect your laptop to the TSC , log in , and type attrib
command to check
TSC Application: the40
R07 dw23versions.
BRC Application: R07 00 08
Take a note of these versions
NOTE: if these versions are wrong, follow the software download SDWL update for TSC -BR ,if not
continue.
E1 slots update
Reset the TSC by entering the command SC>reset
connect with Procomm Login: your name Password:factory
Type .e1config -siteLink dual ( don't forget the dot)
To the question Are you sure you want to continue ? Answer y
Type .e1config -DI off
To the question Are you sure you want to continue ? Answer y
Type .e1config -channel 1 -portNo 1 -tsPattern x x(MTS2) ou x x x (MTS4) (x x x ou xx are the E1
slots : example 13 14 for MTS2 or 1 2 3 for MTS4

Reset the TSC by entering the command SC:reset
Loading the config with the TESS application software.
To upload the configs from your PC launch the TESS application ver R07.02.01
WARNING :Make sure that Bank 1 is active for TSC and BR.

Select The right MTS ( MTS 1 - MTS 2 or MTS 4)


Select the right Dimetra release. Dimetra 6.2 ;7.0 ; 7.2 ; 7.2 or 8.0
Enter password SYS*MGR and select OK
Select CONNECTION then CONNECT TELNET followed by 10.0.253.1:TSC or the site IP address
from the MSO.
Login with your name and the password : motorola
Select SEND FILES
Select Send CONFIGURATION
Select the right config saved on your PC.
When the window opens enter le name of the version as follows: for Bank 1 - 1xxxxxx or xxxxx = is la
Zone ID &Site ID: eg 1Z1S23.
Pour Bank 2 - 2xxxxxx ou xxxxx = est la Zone ID et Site ID: eg 2Z1S23.
Select USE NEXT
Select UPDATE SELECTED ITEMS
Select OK
Highlight the bank where you want to send the config to.
ATTENTION:
If this is the second time that you load a config , the new config will be loaded to the second bank .
Selectionner OK. TESS va maintenant envoyer la config vers le TSC. A la fin cliquer OK
Reset the TSC by entering the command SC>reset
Load the second bank the same way you did for Bank 1.
ATTENTION: Make sure your TSC and BR are on the same Bank for both TSC and BR.
Close the connection from the TESS.
Open the Procomm emulator application.
Configure the CAN BUS the GPS ( if needed ) and the Fans then check.
Login awith your name & password motorola
Type sc>can check_mapping
Check the modules serial numbers against the list( DPM-PSU-ATCC)
Make sure the numbers on the modules match with the numbers on the screen.
Add missing components by using the command sc>can -add_mapping (example) DPM 1 JTH050010

Remove the unwanted components with the command sc>can remove_mapping (exemple) PSU 2
JTGN050010
Check again the CAN config by using the command SC>can view_mapping_list
reset sc> then login with the factory password.
Check for the presence of Fans at the bottom of the MTS2 ou MTS4 racks.
Type the command PSU 1 set fan_config X X X ( 1 or 0 depending of the presence or not of fans)

Type the command site location_reset


Type the command .1ppsdebounce 300
Type the command id A confirmer en tapant Y
Type the command display config -quick
Type the command display config -ip
Type the command dpm 1 set vswr_alm 1.7
Type the command dpm 1 set vswr_fault 3
Type the command psu 1 get alarm
Type the command psu 1 get status
Type the command dpm 1 get alarm
Type the command reset
Loading KI
Identify the AUC server and log on to it.
Check the site name in the left pane tree select it and select refresh Ki
Connect the KVL to the AUC serial posrt then synchronise with the commands AUC/PRC Direct
RS232
Check the operation success ( message and tone)
Go to the site and connect KVL to TSC.
Type the kvl command without enter.
Switch KVL on.
Make sure you have a DB 9 adapter on the top of the KVL.
wait for the kvl to be operational. (15sec)
Type the command KVL , the TSC give you 60 sec to load the key.
Disconnect the PC and connect the cable to the KVL.
On the KVL select UPDATE
On the KVL select SwMI
On the KVL select Ki
Check the top right of the screen for the tape recorder logo.
At the end of the transfer you can hear a few tones.
Warning: if you get a fail message try again.
Reconnect the PC to the TSC
from thePC type exit in order to logout from the TSC.
Connect the PC to Base Radio 1.
enter login ( name ou initials ) the the password motorola
Type KVL without enter
Make sure the le KVL is on if not press the pwr button.
Type enter to entyer KVL mode
disconnect the PC.
On the KVL select UPDATE
On the KVL select SwMI
On the KVL select Ki
Check the top right of the screen for the tape recorder logo.
Upon completion the KVL will emit a series of alternating high and low tones
Warning: if you get a fail message try again.
At the end of the transfer you can hear a few tones.
Reconnect the PC and type exit
Do the same operation for BR 2 -Br3 -Br4 if present.
Reconnect to the TSC.
Type "reset" check that you are back to WAT mode .Make some intersites call with a handheld radio.

Return the KVL to the MSO and connect to the AUC


Connet the KVL to the AUC serial port and then synchronise with the KVL commands AUC/PRC Direct
RS232
Make sure the site status is enabled on the AUC from the left pane tree of the AUC.
Check that your site is in the right security class and in Wide area trunking from the Zone watch
screen.

BR replacement 0n MTS2/MTS4
Task No: Description
1 If possible remove power from the MTS 2 or 4 by switching off the Power
Supply Unit,To perform a hot swap of a Base Radio, do not turn off the
Power Supply. Connect a terminal to the Service Port and log in. Make
sure the Base Radio is not transmitting
by entering the MMI command:dekey
2 Unplug the cables at front of the Base Radio that you replace.

3 Remove the TORX screws securing the faulty module to the chassis;
these are located on the top and bottom of the front plate of the faulty
module. Save the screws for reuse.
4 Pull out the module
5 Insert the replacement Base Radio by aligning the side rails with the
appropriate rail guides inside the Base Radio chassis
6 Gently push the replacement module completely into the Base Radio
chassis assembly using the module handle(s).
7 Secure the replacement module using two TORX screws removed during
module removal.Tighten the screws to a torque of 2.7 Nm.
8 Reconnect the cables to the BR front plate.
9 Switch on the Power Supply Unit (You do not need do this if doing a
hotswap).
10 Setting and Accessing Base Radio Position Using Test Application
11 Connect your laptop to the BR
12 Connect to the BR with your name and the password motorola
13 Type reset at the BR login
14 Press escape to be in boot1 mode
15 Type tessapp to enter test app ode
16 Login with login -ufactory password : factory
17 In order to configure BR cabinet id in the Test Application, use the
following command at the command prompt: Radio.
18 Type : ci -oplatform -c<n>
19 where <n> is a number between 1 and 8 corresponding to the cabinet id
of the Base Radio.
20 In order to configure BR position id in the Test Application, use the
following command at the command
prompt:
21 Type pi -oplatform -p<n>
22 where <n> is a number between 1 and 8 corresponding to the position id
of the Base Radio.
23 Type the command reset -oplatform and wait for the BR reboot.
24 Check for the BR status from Zone watch and by making a few talkgroups
calls.

28 Type get nvm_param rx1 atten_default and press Enter.
29 Type get nvm_param pa dekey_limit and press Enter.

31 Login with login -ufactory password : factory
32 Type get nvm_pram rx1 rx_dc_inj_lsl and press Enter
33 Type get nvm_pram rx1 ad1_scaling6 and press Enter.
34 Type get nvm_pram rx1 rx_fru_config and press Enter.
35 One receiver antenna on RF 1
36 One receiver antenna on RF 2
37 Two receivers on RF Port 1 & 2

42 Log out rom the BR and check the status from Zone watch and by making
a few talkgroups calls.

Note: You can procede to a BR replacement by switching off the BR
or by hot swapping method.

WARNING: In case of BR replacement the Ki key should be loaded


as per the procedure explained in the TSC replacement sheet1.
Result: The correct setting should be 0 for MTS 4 and 4 for MTS 2.
