1 Document Purpose
This document describes publications, software enhancements, and hardware releases for the
TRuepoint® 4000 radio. This release information also introduces new system software version
3.2.1 and MIB file for the radio.

¾ Definition of RFU Radio Frequency Unit — the radio unit that is installed mainly outdoors.
¾ Definition of SPU Signal Processing Unit (Also referred to as IDU) — the indoor rack mounted
unit that is responsible for processing the signal received from the RFU.

¾ Definition of Software means a stand-alone software package for the SPU controller.
¾ Definition of Firmware means an executable Service Request or datum that: (a) is stored
in permanent or quasi-permanent semiconductor memory; and (b) requires manual
intervention via software in order to be updated (if any updating is required).

2 Version 3.2.1 Software Release Information

New features

¾ Web CIT, MIB and Keypad has been changed to allow change size of IP over NETCOM
MTU.

Enhancements

¾ None.

Issues Resolved
.
¾ Backup config file cannot be restored to a different compact flash card.

3 Recommendations
¾ The radio software can be downloaded at any time. However, Harris Startex
recommends that software activation should be initiated during a maintenance window.

¾ During the activation of the software, the remote radio should be upgraded first;
otherwise remote connectivity could be lost.

¾ Software upload times may very from 1-8 Minutes depending on the upload option
(ESCAN, single host) and port baud rates. Software upgrade time will also very
depending on the # of hops in between PC and target radio, as well as the type of
equipment
¾ Radios at both ends of a link should be running the same software versions.
¾ Please read the software download procedure available in the Operator’s Interface
Manual.

¾ Check the radio alarms before and after the upgrade.

¾ The delay in switching the newly downloaded software from the alternate to the
“Running” primary bank is approximately. 1 min and is not traffic affecting.

¾ If a Firmware upgrade in needed, it is recommended to be done during a maintenance

window since traffic may be affected.
