1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 DOCUMENT OBJECTIVE

This document describes the approved business requirement of the DIASPORA and
Malaysian Business Interest Oversea Databases for Work Programme 2010.

1.2 INTENDED AUDIENCE

This document is intended for the MATRADE’s Trade Commissioners (TC). The content
of this document is contains the requirements that were identified through series of
formal and informal discussion between BTM and Senior Management.

URS discussion sessions are mentioned below:


a. 8 July 2010 (With Dr Wong)
b. 23 July 2010 (confirmation of requirements)

1.4 DEVELOPMENT METHODOLOGY

This system was developed in-house using ‘Waterfall,’ methodology. The development
methodology involves 6 phases.
i. Planning
ii. Analysis
iii. Logical Design
iv. Physical Design
v. Implementation
vi. Maintenance

1.5 ACESSING

This system is web-based application using Lotus Notes for the development tools. This
system can be accessing by all MATRADE’s Trade Commissioners and the main user
from MATRADE Head Quarters office (BRAGP Unit).

2 OVERVIEW OF THE SYSTEM

2.1 OVERVIEW

Basically the basic development for this system is to keeping information an individual /
company who are resident of Malaysia, working in overseas operations. Besides that, this
system helps MATRADE generate suitable reports based on consumer demand.

2.2 OBJECTIVE OF THE SYSTEM

The DIASPORA and Malaysian Business Interest Overseas is a system built to achieve
the following objectives:
i. Keeping information an individual or company who is resident of Malaysia and
working in overseas operation.

ii. To assist MATRADE generate suitable reports based on consumer demand.

iii. To facilitate and help disseminate information on Malaysian citizens and


companies to those in need.

2.3 PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK

Following are the defined scope for DIASPORA and Malaysian Business Interest Overseas
system, based on the numerous requirement studies had with both technical and business
users:

There are 4 modules available under the system:


i. Update Profile
ii. Search
iii. Report Module
iv. Administrator

 Provides search function for Individual and Companies based on criteria
