Téma: Firmware update - Huawei SmartAX MT880

----------------------------------------------
miggy:
Good morning to the ever helpful people of PinoyDSL.net
I've got some questions here. Kindly shed some light. 8)
1) How to find the firmware version of the modem?
2) I've got a static IP, I don't suffer disconnection problems at all, only slow
ones that the tech support insists being due to network congestion crap. Is the
re a need for me to update my firmware given the following settings?
3) For those who have successfully updated theirs, which firmware version did yo
u use? Could you share the file with us? Found one on Google but not sure if thi
s would help --> Download link
duhwho:
your firmware version is E.37.5.40
your software version is R002B025
your release date is 2006
the version you got from google is for R001B021 and release date is 2005
it does not match and its much lower than your current
whats your plan speed??
kenshin:
con :)

Thanks for the reply moderator duhwho. :)
So no need to update my firmware? What's the latest firmaware? I'm on 1024 Net B
asic biz plan.
motion55:
Looking at your ADSL status, you seem to have very good numbers for the DSL line
. You are capped to an unusual value of 1177kbps.but your SNR numbers are excell
ent at 39.5dB.
If your speed is slow, it's probably as your ISP provider says: congestion in yo
ur area.
duhwho:
@miggy
nope no need too
as of now, that would be the latest firmware for that particular software versio
n
if you in 1024 what's your usual speed your getting?
gibi:
@miggy
same tau ng plan speed pero 1789/893 ung stream rate ko, nagtataka lang ako bat
1177/893 lang ung sau?
duhwho:
it could be on the line, whats your modulation??
he try different modulation to test which one will yield positive results
miggy:
@motion55
Thanks for your inputs. The 'congestion' is really annoying.
@duhwho
Usual speed I get as per the 'bayagDSL Sux utility' is at 80-90% of my subscribe
d speed. So that would be 819.2 - 921.6 kbps though there are times I exceed tha
t 1024 subscribed speed. Funny though that even if I get more than 90% of 1024,
some pages still load uber slow that I have to refresh NIC just to get a tolerab
le connection.
@gibi
Those are the figures I got. I don't know how and why theyre like that.
duhwho:
@miggy
still ok to get 80%, if your browsing is slow, this can be done thru dns or prox
y or browser optimization, you can try to do trace route to that particular site
to check if there is a problem along the way
sometimes tcpoptimize helps browsing speed better, like since your in static IP,
albeit your using 1500 MTU or lowering to 1492 might do a trick, or number of h
alf open port communication can also do a trick
the best test is to try download a file from multi server no other internet in t
he background and check the transfer rate, if your getting 100KB/sec thats okmic
rosoft, yahoo, google can be source of download file speed test
or you can try different modulation in the modem as well
the.oracle:
i'm also subsscribed at netbasic plan of bayantel.my download rate at gmail and
yahoo is only 10 to 25 kbps.bagal no?i'm located here at mindanao / tandang sora
area.I've been complaining to bayantel almost everyweek pero la pa rin response
.I think mine is worse than yours miggy.Swerte ka na you're getting 80%.Ako nga
25% lang e.
gingerbread:
May benefits po ba ang static ip?
My subscription is 384kbps residential package. I've been seeing the terms stati
c ip's and DHCP's and stuff pero di ko alam kung ano ba yung mga yun. Hehe.
Shall I enable my DHCP server sa modem?
Mas ok po ba yung static ip's sa torrents or p2p games or sharing apps?
Thanks in advance.
miggy:
@duhwho
Haven't noticed a change in browsing 'speed' :(
@friday
10-25kbps is way too low. I'd go berzerk if I had those figures.
@gingerbread
You'd get to have a static IP on biz plan. Torrent speed, as far as I know, depe
nds on the number of seeds, peers, availability. If you are lucky enough to have
several seeders for a torrent file, download speed will not be a problem. Stati
c IPs ain't good for rapidshare files and the like. Once you have reached the do
wnload limit, you'll have to wait for an hour or so to re-download another file
from their servers. Lucky ones get to download via proxy.
Now as for the benefit/s, uhmm here is an example... I personally don't get disc
onnected unlike the ones I've read elsewhere whom I believe are on residential p
lans.

My Advanced settings

dyoddyowel:
it looks ok to me...
what browser are you using? it's already optimized for IE... if you're using fir
efox, there are speed tweaks available for it... or try opera, it's faster...
http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/browserSpeed.html
or use bayantels's proxy to speed up browsing...
miggy:
I'm using FF, Safari, and IE7.
Just installed Opera 9.21. Its unbelievably faster than the rest per observation
. The last Opera version I used was 8 something.:shock:
