• Yield strength at +200º C Re (@T) 201,2 MPa
1.3 TUBE OUTSIDE DIAMETERS.

1.3.1 Imperial sizes.

• OD: 1/4 inch = 6,35 mm

• OD: 1/2 inch = 12,7 mm
1.3.2 Metric sizes.
• OD: 6 mm
• OD: 10 mm
• OD: 12 mm
1.4 WALL THICKNESS TOLERANCES.
Tolerances in accordance with ASTM B 423.
Plus or minus 10% for seamless and welded tubes.

2.0 DESIGN PRESSURE (P in MPa).

• 690 bar for API 10.000 psi systems.
• 406 bar for ASME rated systems (See also table in § 3.0)

3.0 DESIGN STRESSES (f in MPa).

• For API 10000 psi series: f = 143,52 MPa @ +120º C as per table A-4 of ASME B31.1.

• For ASME rated tubing the larger value of P/f dictates the design temperature.

Temperature in º C. RT 100 150 200

P in bar 431 429 418 406
f = 0,67 Re @ T in MPa 161,47 147,19 140,77 134,80
P/f 2.67 2,91 2,97 3,01

For ASME rated tubing f = 134,80 N/mm2 (MPa).

CALCULATION NOMINAL WALL THICKNESS OF TUBING FOR INSTRUMENTATION
PURPOSES, ALLOY 825, UNS N08825.
4.0 CALCULATIONS.

4.1 CALCULATION METHODES.

The nominal wall thickness is calculated in accordance with D0201 of "Dutch Rules for
Pressure Vessels" based on the formula:

P * Do
d min. =
2*z*f+P

• z = strength reduction coefficient (= 1)

• f = design stress (N/mm2) as per ASME Section II, table Y-1
• P = design pressure (MPa)
• d. min = minimum wall thickness (mm)

Remarks:

d min. 0,3 * Di

In case d min. > 0,3 * Di (applies to API 10000 psi series) the nominal wall thickness is
calculated in accordance with ASME B31.1 "Power Piping" based on the formula:

P * Do
d min. = +A
2 (f + P*y)

• A = additional thickness (=0)

• f = design stress (N/mm2) as per ASME B31.1, table A-4.
• P = design pressure (MPa)
• d. min = minimum wall thickness (mm)
• Do = outside diameter (mm)
• Di = inside diameter (mm)
• y = stress distibution factor (in accordance with table 104.1.2(A) of ASME B31)
