Installing Alfresco on Windows (full installation)

The installation wizard for Microsoft Windows installs all the software and components that you
require for running Alfresco.

1. Double-click the downloaded file.


Alfresco-Enterprise-3.2.0-Full-Setup.exe
You may see an Open File - Security Warning message, prompting you to verify that you
wish to run this software. To run the installation wizard, click Run.
2. At the Language Selection prompt, select English, and click OK.
3. When prompted to confirm that you want to install Alfresco on your computer, click Yes.
The Installation wizard launches.
4. In the Welcome to the InstallJammer Wizard for Alfresco Enterprise window, click Next.
5. In the Setup Type window, select Typical.
The Typical option selects all the components required for the Alfresco full installation.
By default, Alfresco installs an embedded MySQL database instance, which is
installed locally in the Alfresco directory. If you already have an existing MySQL
database on your machine, you will be prompted to specify an alternative database
port after the installation starts.
6. In the Choose Destination Location window, click Next to accept the default location for
Alfresco or click Browse to choose another location.
7. In the Start Copying Files window, review the settings, and click Next.
The installation starts. If you chose all the components, a prompt notifies you when the
components are being installed.
8. In the Alfresco Administrator Account window, type a password. Repeat the password,
and then click Next.
This password is for the Administrator user account.
9. (Optional) In the Database Configuration window, enter the server name, port number,
database details, and the root password.
If you are using an existing MySQL database, you can enter an alternative database port
number.
10. Click Next.
A prompt notifies you when the SharePoint Protocol is being installed.
The installation wizard writes the server name and host to the configuration file called
alfresco-global.properties.
11. In the InstallJammer Wizard Complete window, click Finish.
The installation is complete. The Readme files opens. When you close the Readme file,
you are directed to the release notes.
12. Start the Alfresco server:

• Browse to C:\Alfresco, and double-click alf_start.bat, or


• From the Start menu, select All Programs > Alfresco Enterprise Edition > Start
Alfresco Server.

A command prompt opens with a message indicating that the server has started.
13. Start Alfresco Share by browsing to:
• http://localhost:8080/share, or
• From the Start menu, select All programs > Alfresco Enterprise Edition > Start
Alfresco Share.
14. Start Alfresco Explorer by browsing to:
• http://localhost:8080/alfresco, or
• From the Start menu, select All Programs > Alfresco Enterprise Edition > Start
Alfresco Explorer.
15. Log on using the user name and password that you entered in the Alfresco
Administrator Account window.
