of M/s BHEL, Trichy. Today BEPL is in a position to boast itself as the pioneer
in manufacture of components for power plant equipment namely boiler, heat
exchanger, auxiliaries, HRSG, WHB, low and High pressure piping, structures
etc.., conforming to requirements of ASME, ANSI,IBR, ISO, NPCIL etc..,
Excellent financial resources coupled with most dedicated team of
technocrats, professionals and technicians aided with high quality management
systems has ensured a growth rate of 15% per annum.

Today we are proud to say that BEPL have grown to the status of a global
player especially with accreditation to ISO 9001:200by BVQI.

BEPL is in the process of entering into licensing agreement with reputed

European manufacturer of HRSGs for Combined cycle power plant.

BEPL is also in the process of establishing a full-fledged Projects

division to enable to execute large scale assignment in power projects. BEPLs
ultimate motto is “power the entire world and beyond”

TECHNOLOGY AND INFRASTRUCTURE

Planning the future is continuous and never-ending activity at BEPL.

Make it possible for continuous improvement of complete range of components
and, in many cases, an enhancement in the performance. The experimentation of
the new technical solutions and the very stringent tests which every new
component is subjected to, guarantee the quality and safety of all components
before being supplied.

8
The boiler pressure part that we manufacture are well deem fit in the
range of 10MW to 500MW. Every single component right from loose tube
bends to Economizer coils manufactured with great care. We have the capability
to manufacture critical components namely furnace walls, boiler tubes, header
and main and reheat steam lines, Superheated steam lines etc…

Total Area of the factory: 6.00Acres.

Covered space : 4000 sq m

Every invent starts with the basic research so as we, our material
preparation consists of the following:

Oxy-acetylene gas cutting, pug cutting, profile cutting, Air plasma cutting,
hydraulic shearing machine, friction and wheel cutting, band saw.

It is well known that welding is the most important technology, used

extensively in our components. Here is the list of machineries available with
us for welding:

Shielded metal arc welding, Gas metal arc welding, Tungsten arc welding,
Submerged arc welding, Stud welding.

Material forming and punching machineries are as follows:

Hydraulic press brake, 4roll plate bending*, 3roll plate bending, 600MT power
press, Tube expander*, Furnace panel processing, Gang panel bending
Machine, CNC tube and pipe bending, fly press, Squeezed Bending*, Swaging
machine*

Machine equipments:
Centre lathe, Shaping, Radial drilling, Portable drilling, portable magnetic
vertical drilling.

9
Surface preparation:
Abrasive /Shot blasting and Sand blasting.

Grinding machine:
Bench grinding machine A.G.7 Grinding machine G.Q.6 Grinding machine,
Flexible shaft high-speed portable Grinding machine.

Heat treatment:
Oil fired furnace of size 8000X4000X4000*, Electric furnace
3000X2000X2000*.

Non-Destructive testing:
Isotope radiography*, ultrasonic testing*, magnetic particle testing*, liquid
penetrant testing, hydrostatic testing and spectrographic testing*.

*-Tied up with specialized agencies / firms.

The streamlined production and assembly have been planned following “just in
time” philosophy, permitting BEPL to follow global and flexible management
of the complete production system. In this way it has been possible to answer
diverse and specific requirements of customers.

INTRODUCTION

INTRODUCTION

Employee Satisfaction Survey:

The most common purpose for surveying employees is satisfaction.

Employee satisfaction surveys deal with workplace issues, such as benefits,
commitment to diversity, and effective communications. The data from these
surveys helps paint a portrait of employee attitudes and opinions. These kinds of
surveys are particularly useful after a company has undergone some sort of
change, such as a layoff, an acquisition, or a new department head. They also
help employers isolate the root causes of persistent problems, such as low
productivity or high expenses.

Employee satisfaction surveys help employers measure and understand their

employees' attitude, opinions, motivation, and general satisfaction with their
work environment. Use employee satisfaction surveys to inform employee
decision making, benefits, work needs and more.

Employee satisfaction surveys provide valuable data that can ultimately save
your company money.

Benefits of Employee satisfaction survey

 Track changes in employee satisfaction over time

 Improve overall satisfaction and retention
 Measures employee satisfaction Level

on leader and follower factors in employee satisfaction and customer
satisfaction. In that he said that “Employee satisfaction has been cited as
leading performance indicators in various business organizations”.

• Employee Satisfaction Survey conducted by Alaska Department of

transportation and public studies states that “Employee satisfaction is
done to measure the employee satisfactions of the work environment, to
identify job satisfaction levels, areas of strength and opportunities for
improvement”.

• Tsuyoshi Takeshita of The University of Tokyo conducted a study on

Internal Marketing and Employee Satisfaction. In that he says
“Employee satisfaction is often called as “job satisfaction” in the field of
organisational behaviour before its importance was indicated in service
marketing”.

• Stephen P. Robbins states that “An individual’s general attitude toward

his or her job, or… the difference between the amount of reward workers
receive and the amount they believe they should receive”.

21

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

24
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

RESEARCH PROCESS

Different steps are to be followed in the research process and they are explained
as below:

1. PROBLEM SOLVING

This is the basic step in the research process. It is well said, “A problem
well defined is half solved” here the problem is “To analyze the attitudes of the
employees regarding the various benefits provided to them by BEPL”

2. RESEARCH DESIGN
Once the problem is defined the next step is the Research Design.
Research design is the basic framework, which provides guidelines for the rest
of the research process.

3. SAMPLING DESIGN
The sampling design used in this project is CONVENIENT SAMPLING,
as the sample of the employees for the survey were selected from the
organization from different quotas

4. POPULATION
The total element of the universe from which the sample is to be selected
to be studied is known as population. The populations of my research are the
employees of BEPL.

5. SAMPLE SIZE
The sample size for my project is 100 employees working in the
organization,

Data collection is done through structured questionnaire.

CHAPTER – 5

33
FI NDINGS

34
FINDINGS:

Findings related to their overall satisfaction:

 81% of the respondents are satisfied working in this organisation.

 92% of the respondents are satisfied with their present job
 49% of the respondents are not satisfied with the career and guidance
opportunity in the organisation.
 79 % of respondents agreed that they have a very good manager.
 78% of respondents said that they have a very good peer group.

Suggestions:

 The organisation must be aware that performance evaluation of the

employees improves job effectiveness and it is a way to provide career
guidance. This may also helps the employees to improve their
interpersonal relation with the top management which may motivate them
to achieve the set targets.
 The findings reveal that there is a very little chance for the employees for
promotion. People working in the same field for years are being stressed
due to no change. Thus the change in the work and certain motivating
factor like promotion can bring in personal development.
 The organisation should focus more on setting of rules and regulations
which may not create a barrier for the employees in their work place.
 The organisation must spend some time for face to face appraisal or
feedback collecting sessions to improve their satisfaction.
 The organisation should use remuneration methods to appreciate the
employees.

35
CONCLUSION

Workers in any organization need something to keep them

working. An employee must be satisfied to work for a company or organization.
Keeping an employee working at full potential is the ultimate goal of employee
satisfaction. There are many employee satisfaction factors that a manager must
consider. In order to properly conduct business employees need to be well
trained and motivated.

This summer project was very helpful and informative to us. I

learnt how theoretical concepts are applied in organisation. I had a great
exposure to work environment. I would recommend my juniors to undertake
summer project.
