All J6N maintenance procedures can be performed using the following tools:

Disassembly Instructions
This document contains step-by-step disassembly instructions for the J6N. The
instructions are clarified by images of the part that is being removed or disassembled.
Furthermore, the screws that are removed are shown next to the image of the parts
themselves.
§ Do not disassemble the system into parts that are smaller than those specified in the
instructions.
§ Label all removed connectors. Note where the connector goes and in what position it
was installed.
§ Turn off the power and disconnect all power and all options. Also remove any PC-
Cards cards that are in the PCMCIA slot.
1. Battery
Remove the battery pack of the notebook as follows:
a. Close LCD panel.
b. Flip over the unit.
c. Push and hold battery lock.
d. Pull outward to remove the battery.

4. Optical Drive
a. Close LCD lip and flip over the unit.
b. Unscrew one screw.

c. There are two more screws on Optical Drive Bay need to be removed.
d. Flip over the unit, unscrew one screw to release LED Board

6. LCD Module
a. Remove LCD cable connector.
b. Take off six screws to release LCD module from base unit.
Note: if the unit equip with wireless module, you need to disassemble main board to
release antenna cable under it before you can remove the LCD module.
7. Modem
a. Unscrew two screws on modem.
8 HDD
a. Unscrew one screw at the side of HDD.
b. Push outward to release HDD.

9 CPU
a. Release the CPU Fan assembly screws descending follow the number marked
(4à 3à 2à1).
b. Disconnect fan connector and left up the CPU Fan assembly carefully.
c. Unlock the CPU from the CPU socket.

11. FDD
a. Disconnect cable connection on the FDD unit.
b. Unscrew two screws at the side of FDD unit.
d. If you encounter difficulties to lift up the Main Board, you may remove the six
spacers at the rear of unit before perform step b.

Reassembly Instructions
Reassembly is the reverse of the disassembly process. Use care to ensure that all cables
and screws are returned to their proper positions.
