Steve Jobs- The Father of Apple and Pixar

Have you ever used an iPod, iPhone, Macbook, or an iPad? Have you ever seen Cars,

Toy Story or The Incredibles? These are all from coporation run by Steven Paul Jobs. Steve

Jobs was born on 1955 in Los Altos California. His biological parents were Syrian and

American. Jobs does not like to talk about them. He was adopted at a young age by Paul and

Clara Jobs in 1955. At school he was a pariah and had different view on things. He was a

unique boy.

Steve Jobs was a curious boy who experimented with many things. He had once

eaten a bottle of ant poison and went the emergency room. Jobs was attracted to electronics at

a very young age. He also played with other weird object such as bobby pins. His parents

knew he was not a normal boy. He had a great potential to change the world.

Steve Jobs attended Reed College and dropped out after a few weeks. He said that he

attended the school because of his parents. He said the education was useless and wasn’t

needed. Steve Jobs had a good education in his middle and high school years. His father had

a good job, so he was able to get a good education.

Personal Life
Steve Jobs had to love many women. But in 1960, he found the perfect lady for him,

Laurene Powell. Laurene Powell is currently the President of the Board of College Track.

Steve Jobs and Laurene Powell had two children, Reed Paul Smith and Erin Seinna Jobs.

Steve Jobs had many health problems throughout his life. During his childhood he

suffered many illnesses. In 2004, he had caught pancreatic cancer. He luckily recovered

safely. Soon after in 2010 he caught a liver disease. It was very serious and needed a liver

transplant. Jobs was searching and couldn’t find a match in his area. He went all over the

United States searching for a liver. He finally found a match in the Methodist University

Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. The donor was in his mid-twenties and had just died in a

car accident.

Steve Jobs and Steve Wonziak met in 1970. They quickly became very close friends.

They had similar interests in electronics and liked to pull pranks (Lam). They were very close

friends as the years went on. Steve Jobs and Steve Wonziak soon founded Apple in April 1,

1976.

Apple was not a best-selling company at first. They had many problems and

financial difficulties. Steve Jobs and Steve Wonziak were not the richest men and they just

sold their personal belongings to afford the bills.

Apple’s growth

As the company grew bigger in the 2000’s it became a big hit. This year’s revenue

for Apple was 13.5 billion dollars. Last year was 9.08 billion dollars. Apple has been
successful because of many different products like the iPod. Apple has sold about 250 million

iPods. iTunes also has millions of songs downloaded and 140,000 applications available. In

2005, Sir Alan Sugar said that “the iPod will be dead finished, gone, kaput.” He was wrong

because the iPod still sells very well in 2010. They have sold 10.89 million this quarter.

Apple sold 2.94 million Macintosh computers this quarter. 500,000 iPads have been

sold since its release in April. Apple products are very successful. Microsoft Chairman, Bill

Gates, said the iPad looks good and stylish. This year with the recession Apple sold 124%

more iPhones, 40% more desktop computers, and 28% more Macbooks. Apple products are

selling very well through this crisis.
