If you have a Viewsonic VX1962WM monitor that either has a blue power light and no picture (it may
even be squealing a bit) then this should help get you back running. Below you will find a full walk thru
on repairing your LCD monitor. The power supply board we will be repairing is a Darfon B092-XXX
27-D021625 Rev D2, this board is also used in the Acer P191W and X193W monitors. To do the repair
you will need the following tools: Soldering iron, de-solder braid, Phillips screwdriver, flat blade
screwdriver. You will also need the following electronic parts: Qty. (2) 220uf 35v capacitors, Qty. (1)
1000uf 10v capacitor and Qty.1 2200uf 25v capacitor. We sell a repair kit with all of the parts for
$10.00
If you don’t want to do the repair yourself, use the service request link above. Most monitor repairs
run $30-35 plus return shipping.
Here we have a non functional ViewsonicVX1962WM 19″ LCD monitor. This one has a blue power
light, no picture and a soft squeal coming from the monitor.

First you need to remove the power cable, signal cable and the stand. To remove the stand pull the
plastic cover off and remove the 4 screws.
Now to get to the electronics we will need to separate the .front and back halves of the case. Use a small
flat blade screwdriver inserted between the front and back halves. Start on the bottom surface in case
you damage the surface. The best place to start is the opposite from the control panel so it does not get
damaged. Once you get the separation started just work your way around all 4 sides. About every few
inches there will be a plastic latch that will release.

After the back case is separated from the front lay the whole unit on a flat surface with a towel under it

The last cable to release is the panel signal cable as show in the picture below right.

Now flip the electronics assembly over as show. Remove the 4 screws as circled in the picture to the
right. With the screws removed the power board will unplug from the driver card and can be fully
separated from the rest of the parts.

his is the power supply assembly. The parts we will be replacing are circled in yellow. The parts are as
follows:
C1 and C302 are 220uf 35v
C307 is 1000uf 10v
C305 is 2200uf 25v
When replacing the capacitors be sure to install them with the polarity stripe on the side going the
same direction as the old one comes out. Usually the board will also have one side marked as positive +,
After the parts are replaced just reverse the procedure to reassemble the case. Now apply power and
you should have a fully functional monitor again.

I made the repairs you showed above, but could not remember the order in which the wires get
attached (ones shown in 5th photo down) when re-assembling. Any help with that would be
appreciated.
thanks.

The order that the backlights are plugged in does not matter, all 4 plugs each go to a backlight
tube.
Hi,
I made the repairs as instructed. But now i have no power. The salesperson sold me an 1000uf 16v
and said there was no 10v exists. Could this have anything to to do with the no power situation.
Any idea?
The capacitors you used are not the correct type. It sounds like you used general purpose caps
from someplace like Radio Shack, these will damage the power board. Look on our page called
choosing the correct parts above right and it will explain which brands and series you need to
use. The general purpose caps you have used are not low ESR and not high ripple current that
the power supply needs to function correctly. The salesperson you talked to does not know about
electronics repair so they are not familiar with the parts you need. I am sorry that you paid for
caps that are not correctbut if you use the correct ones then the repair will work correctly.
Thanks for the info. I’ll be buying one of your repair kits to insure i have the correct capacitors.

apart yet so i don’t know the model number of the board. Has the same issue as my other one.
Thank you so much! I was going insane trying to find the specs on the cap at C302 since it was
covered in that lovely white glue. I figured it was the same as C1 but wanted to be sure before I
ordered some caps.
Well.. I ordered parts from MCM, and I got the good quality caps. Installed, and now all I get is a
steady blinking blue power light.
The C305 (2200uf 25V) was too large for the board, so I ran some leads and glued it down like the
120uf 400V cap on the other side of the board.
I noticed the newer caps were much larger, but were all electrolytic, and had the exact same
capacitance and voltage rating, so they should work, right?
Hello Jay,
What brand and series capacitors did you use. The replacements need to be High temp which will
be marked 105c, LOW ESR and high ripple current. If they are general purpose caps they will
not work and could damage the board. here is the link to our page discussing the proper ones to
use with brands and series number to use. http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/capacitors/

I have one of these monitors and don’t want to bother fixing it…does anyone else want it? I have
since upgraded to a 22″ Samsung which I love, so I no longer need this one. I know that the only
thing wrong with it is the backlight. I am willing to give it to a good home for the cost of shipping
it to you (unless you live around Rochester, NY and want to meet me someplace) as it is just
taking up space. This monitor is in great shape otherwise, no scratches or dings/dents.
Just wanted to say thanks for keeping me on my budget! The fix worked like a charm, it was very
easy all around. Selling the kit saved me time and aggravation finding the right caps, and the
repair took less than an hour. So glad to have this monitor back, it’s my favorite
