Written for reading levels 2.0–2.8, the Circle C Beginnings series combines fun

In book three, if Andi can’t take her new foal, Taffy, to the 1874 California State
Fair, she doesn’t want to go. But once she’s there, there are so many exciting
things to see that she’s glad she came . . . until her big brother tells her she can’t
keep the prize she won fair and square!
In book four, Andi didn’t think she was afraid of anything—until now. School
means being away from the ranch, away from her family, and away from Taffy.

for something that wasn’t even her fault is the last straw.

The Lion Illustrated Bible for Children

Lois Rock; illustrated by Christina Balit

A dramatically beautiful Bible with special features other children’s

Bibles don’t offer
The treasured stories of the Bible combine to make one great narrative about God
and God’s people. In this retelling, each memorable episode can be enjoyed in its
own right or read and understood as part of the unfolding story. Christina Balit’s
stunning illustrations underline the power and drama of the Bible.
Starting with the beauty of creation and the tragedy of humankind turning its
back on Paradise, the story continues with the lives of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob,
Joseph, and Moses; the struggles of the nation during the time of Joshua, Samson,
and Gideon; peace under Saul, David, and Solomon; the prophets; the return to
Israel after exile in Babylon. Finally come the stories of Jesus, stories that show
people how to walk the road of love, peace, justice, and eternal life.

Features and Benefits

• Simple introductions to each story explain the context and timeline
• Bible references and a Bible people index make this a complete resource
• 100 stories give an overview of the full Biblical narrative, including prayers,
poetry, and wisdom—which many children’s Bibles skip
• A more formal style of text and illustration makes this suitable for those who
find other illustration styles irreverent

About the Authors

Lois Rock is renowned for her retellings of Bible stories and information books
about the Christian faith. Her many titles have been translated into over thirty
languages and include The Lord’s Prayer and Ten Commandments and The Lion
Encyclopedia of Jesus.
Christina Balit is an acclaimed children’s book artist noted for her ethnic style. Of
