the topic of women and holy orders. Our
goal is to develop a deeper understand-
ing of and respect for the various Angli-
can opinions surrounding this often con-
tentious issue. We will read and discuss
the relevant biblical texts as well as ex-
cerpts from both ancient and modern
Christian writers.

Graduate. For those of us who can re-
member the whacked out late 1960’s, re-
visiting The Graduate will be a positive
hoot. Dustin Hoffman plays Benjamin, a
confused young man trying to sort out a
bored cougar played by Anne Bancroft. This is
perhaps the definitive movie about youthful con-
fusion, hilarious and touching at the same time,
with a great Simon and Garfunkle soundtrack.

“Dear People of God: The first Christians ob-
served with great devotion the days of our
Lord’s passion and resurrection, and it became
the custom of the Church to prepare for them
by a season of penitence and fasting. This sea-
son of Lent provided a time in which converts
to the faith were prepared for Holy Baptism. It
was also a time when those who, because of
notorious sins, had been separated from the
body of the faithful were reconciled by peni-
tence and forgiveness, and restored to the fel-
lowship of the Church. Thereby, the whole
congregation was put in mind of the message
of pardon and absolution set forth in the Gos-
pel of our Savior, and of the need which all
Christians continually have to renew their re-
pentance and faith.

Saturday, March 19 —The Rt. Rev. William
Murdoch will be at Christ the Redeemer for a
service of consecration of our church building,
as well as confirmations. This is a time of cele-
bration, and the service will be followed by a
festive reception in the Parish Hall. If you are a
Christ the Redeemer parishioner attending the
service and reception, we invite you to bring a
platter of finger food to share (nothing requir-
ing cutlery). We need both sweet and savory
items, already arranged on platters, which can
be dropped off in the church kitchen before
the service begins. Please remember to take
your platter home after the reception. Join us
as we celebrate and thank God for providing us
the gift of our church!

Friday, April 1-Sunday, April 3 - The Rev.
Bill Haley will be with us throughout the
weekend. He is an Anglican priest, who
until recently served as Associate Rector at
The Falls Church in Virginia, a Senior Fellow
with The Washington Institute, a spiritual
director, and has extensive experience in
outreach and mission.
