ELECTRIC CLUTCH

TRACTORS USING NO. 101473 1-1/8" BORE CLUTCH
DESCRIPTION
The model 8-3513 electric clutch provides instant
engagement and disengagement of engine-driven at-
tachments. It is used to drive the snow thrower, tiller,
rotary mower and other attachments.
NOTE: This clutch is not adaptable to trador mod-
els prior to 1970.
Because different brands of engines are used on
Wheel Horse tractors, one of the following two in-
stallation procedures should be followed, as indi-
cated.
PRELIMINARY MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS -
All Engines
1. Use emery cloth or sandpaper to remove rust,
burrs or dirt from the engine shaft. Install the
square key (2) in the shaft groove. A light coat
of grease should be smeared on the shaft to
prevent rust and to aid the installation and re-
moval of the clutch assembly.
2. Install the clutch assembly on the engine shaft
(see figure 1). NOTE: Push on the clutch assem-
bly until the shoulder stops against the engine
shaft.
The clutch is held on with the K6-20 x 2~
hex bolt, 920234-4 plain washer, and a K6
lockwasher (see figure 1).

3. To mount the clutch bracket, proceed according
to brand of engine.

KOHLER ENGINE
A. The bracket is held to the engine with the K6-14
xl" bolt, K6 plain washer, and a K6 lockwasher.
Use switch wire No. 9654. The short lead of this
wire is installed under the plain washer as
shown in figure 2 and the exploded view
drawing.
B. Align the hole in the bracket with the hole in
the clutch arm. Tighten the bolt to secure the
bracket. Insert the clevis pi,n and hairpin cotter
as shown.
C. For wiring and switch installation, see the in-
structions applying to the features of your par-
ticular tractor.
LAUSON/TECUMSEH ENGINE
A. The brocket is held to the engine with the K6-14
xl" bolt, K6 plain washer, and a K6 lockwasher.
Use switch wire No. 102036. The short lead of
this wire is installed under the plain washer as
shown in figure 3 and the exploded view draw-
ing.
B. Align the hole in the bracket with the hole in
the clutch arm. Tighten the bolt to secure the
bracket. Insert the clevis pin and hairpin cotter
as shown.
C. For wiring and switch installation, see the in-
structions applying to the features of your par-
ticular tractor.

WIRING AND SWITCH INSTALLATION
1. ALL MODELS
Loosen the band holding the fuel tank and move
the tank forward as shown in figure 4.

2. KOHLER ENGINE - 1972 AND PRIOR
A plug button is provided in the dash for the
switch. Remove the plug button and install the
toggle switch. Connect the clutch switch and the
cigar lighter with the 12" orange wire No. 9659
(see figure 5). Wrap the long wire No. 9654
several turns around the throttle cable, then
up through the rubber grommet in the tank
support plate, and connect it to the switch (see
figure 5).
3. LAUSON/TECUMSEH ENGINE-1972 AND PRIOR
A plug button is provided in the dash for the
switch. Remove the plug button and install the
toggle switch. Connect the clutch switch and the
cigar lighter with the 12" orange wire No. 9659
(see figure 5). Run the long wire No. 102036
along the right-hand frame rail. Two No. 8519
clips are provided to hold the wire to the rail.
Run the wire on up along the right-hand edge
of the hoodstand. Use the two No. 3023 clips to
hold the wire to the hoodstand. Thread the wire
through the rubber grommet in the tank sup-
port plate, and connect it to the switch (see fig·
ure 5).

4. KOHLER ENGINE - 1973 AND LATER
A plug button is provided in the dash for the
switch. Remove the plug button and install the
toggle switch. Unplug the red safety switch wire
from the ignition switch and from the two-wire
safety connector (see figure 6), and discard.
Using wire No.1 02963, connect the now-vacant
ignition switch terminal to the clutch switch (see
figure 5). If the tractor is not equipped with
lights, connect the empty accessory terminal of
the ignition switch to the clutch switch using
fused connector wire No. 101846 (see figures
5 and 6). Connect the remaining red safety
switch wire to the clutch switch (see figure 5).
Wrap the long wire No. 9654 several turns
around the throttle cable, then up through the
rubber grommet in the tank support plate, and
connect it to the clutch switch (see figure 5).

5. LAUSON/TECUMSEH ENGINE-1973 AND LATER
