Some useful trims and embellishments

To crochet a flower: with 1.75mm (UK1:USC)
crochet hook make 6 chains.
Slip stitch in first chain to make a circle.
* Make 2 chain, 2 treble, 2 chain and a slip
stitch into the circle * – this makes 1 petal.
Repeat from * to * 4 times. This makes 5 petals.
Finish with a slip stitch.
To make a tassel
1. Cut a piece of stiff card to the
desired tassel length. Loop some
yarn around the cardboard
at least 10 times. The size of
the tassel is determined by the
number of loops you make - the
more loops, the fatter the tassel.

2. Cut the sides of the loops.

3. Gather the pieces of yarn in the

centre and tie with a single strand
of yarn. Tie another piece of yarn
around the tassel, 1cm down from
the top.

4. Tie the two pieces of yarn into

knots to secure and trim the ends
of the tassel to neaten if needed.
