ERP 9 (Gold User) on Server machine and License Server

Installing Tally.ERP 9 on Server Machine

You can install Tally.ERP 9 using one of the following methods:

Method 1:

 Double click the install.exe icon on the CD.

Method 2:

 Click START from Windows.

 Select RUN.

 TYPE <CD drive>:\INSTALL.

 Press ENTER.

Follow the instructions displayed on your screen to proceed with the installation of Tally.ERP 9.

1. The Tally.ERP Setup Wizard screen is displayed as shown.

2. Click Next to continue with the Installation.

3. The Tally.ERP Setup screen appears

3.1. In the Programs section check select Tally.ERP 9.

3.2. In the Tally.ERP 9 Setup section, you can accept the default directories as shown or
click on the buttons provided next to the respective text boxes to change the path of
Application Directory, Data Directory, Configuration Directory and Language
Directory.

3.2.1. Application Directory - The program files reside in this directory.

 3.2.2. Data Directory – by default Tally.ERP 9 data is stored in C:\Tally.ERP\Data.
During the installation process, the wizard detects and retains the data path of
previously installed version of Tally.

3.2.3. Configuration Directory – by default the configuration files reside in the

application directory.

3.2.4. Language Directory – by default the Language files with the extension .dct are
stored in the application directory.

4. Click Next.

5. In the Country/Language Selection screen, check Install Operating System Language

Support to install Tally.ERP 9 with multi-lingual support.
Note: To use Tally.ERP 9 in English only, uncheck Install Operating Systems Language Support

6. By default, India/SAARC appears in the Country Selection. Select Others if you are not
residing in India or any of the SAARC countries.

7. Click Install

8. The Setup status screen is appears as shown.

9. You will be prompted for the language support files in the Files Needed screen, insert
operating systems CD in the drive or click Browse and select the i386 folder where the required
language support files reside on your computer.

10. Click OK to install Language Support.

Note: In case you click Cancel or do not have the operating system CD, The language support
will not be available.

11. In the installer screen click Finish to complete Tally.ERP 9 Setup.

12. Click Finish to complete Tally.ERP 9 Gold Installation on the server machine or Click
Continue to install License Server (Refer to below topic on Installation of Tally License
on server machine)

To start the Tally.ERP 9 application, double click the Tally.ERP 9 icon on the desktop.

Installation of Tally.ERP 9 License Server

Note: In case you are continuing the Installation of License Server after having installed
Tally.ERP 9 on Server machine by clicking Continue, the Installation Setup screen displays as
shown:
 Click on Install

 The Setup status is displayed as shown.

 Once the installation process is complete, the Installation Successful screen is
displayed as shown.
  Click Finish to complete the installation process.

Procedure to Install Tally.ERP 9 License Server (in case you had closed the Setup wizard
after having installed Tally.ERP 9 on the Server machine)

You can install Tally.ERP 9 License Server using one of the following methods.

Method 1:

 Double click install.exe icon on the CD.

Method 2:

 Click START from Windows.

 Select RUN.

 TYPE <CD drive>:\INSTALL.

  Press ENTER

Follow the instructions displayed on your screen to proceed with the installation of Tally.ERP 9.

1. The Tally.ERP Setup Wizard screen is displayed as shown.

2. Click Next to continue.

3. The Tally.ERP 9 Setup screen appears.

4. To install the Tally.ERP 9 Licence Server select the option License Server in the
Programs section of the Tally.ERP 9 Setup screen.

5. Accept the default License Server Directory and Port Number or enter the required
License Server Directory name and Port Number in the Tally.ERP 9 setup screen.

Note: The Port number provided during installation is captured and displayed as a parameter to
LicServerPort in the Tally.ini file.

6. Click Install.
7. The Setup status is displayed as shown.

8. Once the installation process is completed, the Installation Successful screen is displayed
as shown.
9. Click Finish to complete the installation process.

Installing Tally.ERP 9 Multi User on a Client machine (Node machine)

You can install Tally.ERP 9 using one of the following methods.

Method 1

o Double click the icon install.exe available on the CD.

Method 2

o Click START from Windows.

o Select RUN.

o TYPE <CD drive>:\INSTALL.

 o Press the ENTER key.

Follow the instructions displayed on your screen to proceed with the installation of Tally.ERP 9.

1. The Tally.ERP Setup Wizard screen is displayed as shown.

2. Click Next to continue with the Installation.

3. The Tally.ERP 9 Setup screen appears.

3.1. In the Programs section, select the option Tally.ERP 9

3.2. In the Tally.ERP 9 Setup section, you may accept the default directories as shown or
click on the buttons provided next to the respective text boxes to change the
Application Directory, Data Directory, Configuration Directory and the
Language Directory.

3.2.1. Application Directory - The program files reside in this directory.

3.2.2. Data Directory – The Tally.ERP data is stored in the path C:\Tally.ERP 9\Data,
by default. The user can change the data directory by clicking on the button
provided next to the text box and type in the new path.
 3.2.3. Configuration Directory – The configuration files reside in the Application
Directory, by default. Specify the path if you want the files to be saved elsewhere on
your system.

3.2.4. Language Directory – The language files (.dct) are stored in the application
directory, by default.

4. Enter the Name/IP Address of the Tally.ERP License Server and port number in the Port
field. This will enable the Tally.ERP Client to establish a connection with the license server
using the dedicated port.

5. Click on Next.

6. In the Country/Language Selection screen, check Install Operating System Language

Support to install Tally.ERP 9 with multi-lingual support.

Note: To use Tally.ERP 9 in English, uncheck Install Operating Systems Language Support

Note: Suppose you click Cancel or do not have the operating system CD, the language support

13. In the installer screen, click Finish to complete the Tally.ERP 9 Setup.
On the successful installation of Tally.ERP 9, double click on the Tally.ERP 9 icon on the
desktop. to start Tally.ERP 9

Now Copy your Data folder and share it. To share right click on the folder and use
“Sharing and Security”. Check the field “Share this Folder and also check on “Allow
network users to change my files”.

Once this is done you go to Tally.ERP 9 :-> Use F12 From Gateway of Tally:-> Data
configuration:-> Location of data files:-> here you have to mention the data path where
that is located. For example \\Server\Data.
