1. What is the force between two straight conductors if they carry current in
opposite direction?

(a) A straight conducting rod of length 0.06m and mass 30g is suspended by
two vertical wires at its ends. A current of 1 A is set up in the rod. Find
(i) what magnetic field should be set up normal to the conductor so that
tension in the wire is zero?
(ii) what will be the total tension in the wire if the direction of the current is
reversed

(b) A galvanometer has a resistance of 55 ohms. It gives full-scale deflection


by a current of 10 milliamperes. What resistance must be connected across it
to enable it to read 1 ampere?

29. Following figure shows an experimental set up similar to Young’s double


slit experiment to observe interference of light.

Here SS2-SS1= . Write the condition of (i) Constructive (ii) Destructive


interference at any point P in terms of path difference.
Does the central fringe observed in the above set up lie above or below O?
Give reason in support of your answer.

30. (a) Discuss how the OR gate is realized from the NOR gate. Write the
truth table & Boolean expression for the OR gate .
(b) The potential difference across the collector of a transistor, used in
common emitter mode is 1.5V, with the collector resistance of 3kΩ.
Find (i) the emitter, and (ii) the base current, if the d.c. gain of the transistor
is 50.
