1 General
If the operation of the wind turbine requires each wind turbine to be metered
separately (e.g., in a wind farm with several operators of individual wind turbines
or wind farm extensions), a medium voltage meter (MV meter) can be installed in
the MV switchgear as an option.
The medium voltage meter serves to record the reactive and active power that is
actually drawn and delivered, including the wind turbine's transformer losses.
The currents and voltages required for metering are tapped via current and
voltage converters in the switchgear.
The medium voltage meter (calibrated) consists of (see Figure 2-1: Schematic
diagram of MV meter):
o Current transformer
o Voltage transformer
o Meter with RS485 interface
o Optional: Remote reading via the RS485 interface of one or more
wind turbines connected with a data cable. Additional wind turbines
can be integrated with the aid of a data bus (two-wire circuit),
and the meter values can be retrieved through an analogue
connection in the master wind turbine, to be supplied by the operator
(Figure 2-2: Schematic diagram of MV meter with remote reading
(optional)). Technical details and prerequisites for this arrangement
must be resolved in advance.
