1. Are u interested in promotional opportunity?

Yes I am. Because promotional opportunities could bestow me the chance to learn more
knowledge related to my major and to work much better than my present performance. Also,
working in a high level could also make me connect to people in the higher position, so it could
broad my horizons and gets well connected.
2. Aren’t you a little young (old) or this position?
Yes, I am young. But I got some summer internship experience such as last summer I got a
internship in TCF bank, a local bank in Chicago and I joined lots project designed which makes
me more familiar with this area. Also I think my knowledge I obtain right now from Poly plus the
things I will learn from your company gradually will make me qualified to this job. Also since I
am young, I am quite ambitious, quite energetic and could easily absorb new knowledge.
3. Describe a leadership role of yours and tell why you committed your time to it.
I joined a concert choir when I was in my high school and before one year Xmas, I was the
leader of the choir and organize our team heading to the hospital where most of the American
Veterans from Vietnam war and North Korea War lived and singing Xmas song and brought Xmas
wishes to them. First I love singing in a group, because I could get more energy and spirit. Also
the reason why I organize this program is because I know how miserable life suffered by those
veterans who once make contribution to the country but at the expense of themselves, so it will be
quite pleasure if we could make them life happier.
4. Describe a situation where you had to work with someone who was difficult, how did u handle
it?
It is the financial accounting project; also it is the first project I did when I came over to HK.
Because in HK, the things most students study are in a much higher level than what we received in
US, so I found everyone except me in the group are quite overpowered, the technical things they
talked are totally out of my capacity. And indeed I felt a bit frustrated and depressed. So after the
first meeting, I borrow a book called basic accounting information from library and force myself
reading every single day and make lots prepare before each of the following meeting, then
gradually I could catch up with them and finally we could high appraise from professor.
5. Describe how your favorite course has contributed to your career interested.
It should traced back to my economic class when I took in high school in USA, in that class I was
the only Asian we had at that time. Everyone I think got discrimination toward Asia except Japan,
and later the processor showed as a movies about how Chinese people jump the queen in
supermarket and how people fight against each other in the public place. I know everyone in the
class despise Chinese but the things showed in the movies isn’t the real things that frequently
happened. So I went to the professor later and tell the truth. Later she apologies and said because
everyone knew nothing about China, but it will be more appreciate to give us a presentation about
what china look like. So at the end the term, I give a two hours presentation about how fast
Chinese developed. I am so proud of myself and it bestow my interested in Economics and other
business class. But economics I think it is quite theoretical and much more related to match which
I do not like to much, so I choose other aspect of business which tight related to Economics but
not as theoretical as economics.
6. Describe the type of manager you prefer.
I prefer the manager who would love to communicate with people in the lower position and take
into consideration about their ideas before making any policies or project rather than the manager
who only focus on making polices and ask others to follow. Because in that way, we are working
in a peaceful environment and everyone easily be fascinated with the job the do and get lots
motivation.
7. Give an example of the most creative project you have worked on?
The project I described is not as academic as you may expect. But I think it is the most creative
and impressive I have so far.
8. Give me an example of an idea that has come to you and what you did with it.
Because we have veteran days in US every year and one year I went to Washing DC during the
holiday and experience how American mourn in from the memorial monument. I was sad as well
and I could never tell how miserable life that veteran suffered. So I came up with a idea at that
time..
9. How long did u get along with your former boss and co-workers?
It should be traced back to my last summer when I got a internship in TCF bank, a local bank in
US. I get along with boss and other people for around three months from May to Late August. It
was a cool experience since I joined lots project design and project analysis with others. They are
also nice enough to teach me lots things.
10. How did you like your last job and why did you leave?
It was a impressive and awesome experience. Because they invite me to join lots project design
and project analysis like how to help customers invest with the lowest risk, how to record the
annual financial balance sheet. The three months was quite short but since I have to be back to
school, so I have to leave.
11. How do you work with others? Are u a leader.., or a follower?
The most important points when I work with others I think is commit to a peaceful environment
that people could communicate friendly. Second is I could not stick up with my idea without listen
or absorb from others points. And I always like to regard myself as follower even though
sometimes I will be appointed a leader, when we starting doing our project. Because we are in the
same line to talk everything and I could not force others to follow my own idea. The only different
I think between a leader and a follower is at the very beginning that a leader supposed to called up
a team and had the ability to organize others idea rather than dictate others to follow him.
12. How have your changed personally since starting college.
First I think I got lots improvement in my analytical skills. I begin to consider a problem from
different views rather than only one point. Also I begin to be more critical when I read a article or
heard some news, I wont focus on the good points it showed on Newspaper but also have some
critical idea.
Second is my interpersonal skill. Probably since I commit myself into more and more group
projects, I am better in how to communicate with people who get different personality with you
even though you may do not like, I became more patience in absorbing others idea even thought I
probably do not quite agree at the very beginning.
13. How have your educational and work experiences prepared you for this position?
I had my freshman in University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign in US and I had rest of my
undergraduate in HK. All the knowledge I learnt so far could make me qualified to handle some
basic problems and issues happened in business area and I think as I work in your company, I will
learn more and more gradually. Also I got a internship which enhance my ability in project design
and project analysis and how to handle with some customers.
14. If I asked the people who know you for one reason why I shouldn’t hire you, what would they
say?
I think they probably say that I am a bit easy to get distracted like parties, like there were some
final sales in some places. And maybe they think I will ditch my job at hand and heading to the
attractive place. But right now I am working on my time management, I will write down what I
am supposed to do or supposed to finished at the end of each day, or each month, So I will force
myself finished those things first before joining other extra activities no matter how appealing it
is .
15. If I asked the people who know you well to describe you, what three words would they use?
Ambitious since I always like to show them my future aims even some they think it is hard to
become true. Confidence since I seldom scared of doing problem no matter how hard I encounter.
The last maybe friendly, since I always have smile on my face toward most of the people I meet
up with or bump into.
16. If we make an offer, how long do you plan to stay with the company?
I can not say I will stay in your company for my whole life. But since this is the first company I
get into after graduate, so no matter how much difficult I will encounter or how hard to deal with
the people, working here will teach me lots things that I will treasure in my whole life, and those
things I couldn’t learn for like 2 or 4 years. So I will be patiencetly stay here and be loyalty to this
company and give my best shot to make as much contribution as I can .
17. If you could change a decision you made while at college what would you change and why?
I think I will still stick up with business, even though I can not deny sometimes I complaint about
how hard those courses are. And right now it seems it proves that my choice is right.
18. If you had the last 10 years of your life to live over again, what would you do differently?
Based on my experiences right now, I am not regretting most of the major things I have done so
far like come to HK instead staying in US or be majoring in Business. But one thing I will be
more focus is I want to do more volunteer program as much as I can, like going to the orphanage
to take care of those kids or going to the nursing house to take care of those old people to let them
know that the whole society hasn’t ditch them and how warm our society could still be. Because I
know how miserable the life is suffering from poverty, I really want to help them instead only
focus on my own.
19. In a particular leadership you had, what was your greatest challenge?
The hardest part is that how I communicate with the leader of the hospital, because he never
believes a high school group well organizes this activity and not to mention he thinks we will
make the hospital in to a chaos. What I did is first promise him that we will be leaded by our two
teachers and I showed him some of the achievement we achieve in the past three years and I also
promised him that if anyone do not like, we will leave soon.
20. Is there anything you would like to say to close the interview?
The reason I apply this company is I appreciate the way you operating the business and how
friendly you are with customers, also it is a quite famous company with more than 50 years history
and more than 20 branches in overseas. Everyone who works in this company I think will proud of
this company for all those achievement, but I wish after I join your company for several years, the
company will be proud of having me a as member.
21. Of the courses you have had at college, which courses have u enjoyed the most.
I think it is the Intermediate Accounting One, it is not because the content inside makes me be
fascinating with the courses, it is because the achievement I got made me think I enjoyed the
course most. At the very first two weeks, I could not catch up with the professor and I almost can
not understand anything there. Later I came to the professor and she though the questions I asked
is quite simple and almost drive her insane. So when I back home I just keep on going through the
book over and over and communicate with my friends and get well prepared before each class.
And later almost approaching the end of the semester, I received the call from the professor and I
was told I got a incredible improvement and achieve a quite higher scores than most of the others.
I am so happy.
22. Of the hobbies and interested listed on your resume what is your favorite and tell me why?
I think I am quite fascinating with running. Because not only it could make me lose weight, most
important it could foster my characteristic of persistence. I always felt tired, but I will insist before
reaching the terminal and each time when I reach the terminal you can never tell how gorgeous I
felt when I looked back the road that I came from.
23. Since attending college, what is the toughest decision that you have had to make?
It is the time when I consider whether transfer to HK or just stay in US. Because at that time, I
have family and I have friends in US, and also I got a scholarship at the end of my freshman year
in US. But since I have been into HK for since the first time I came to HK 10 tens ago, I really
want to go there to experience this energetic city, also experience a city which combine both
oriental and occidental cultures. Also it is a international finance city that could give me lots
opportunity to develop my business career here. So it is really a hard decision to make.
24. Since you have been at college, what is it that you are proudest of?
Everyone got a basic understanding about China and give me a huge applause at the end.
25. Tell me about your most difficult decision and how did you go about making it?
I talked to my parents, consult my advisor in university and talked to my friends both in US and in
HK. None of them said which one is better, but all of them listed the advantages and
disadvantages for both of the decisions. I know no matter what choose I make, I will lose
something. What I did is combine those ideas together and found out the advantage to my own
study in HK will overweight the advantage in US, so I finally get the idea.
26. Tell me about yourself.
I am Vicky, Xiao. I just graduate from Hong Kong Polytechnic University and be majoring in
accounting and finance. Actually I am a transfer student from University of Illinois in United
States. I once get internship in a US local bank. Personally I think I am familiar with both North
America and China. Please feel free to ask me anything else you expected to know about me.
27. What are your career goals for the next 5 years? The next ten years.
I think to most of the people they all wish to become a CFO or CEO in a pretty famous company,
same to me. I still have such dream as well. But for the next 5 or 10 ten years, it cannot say a long
period, or I can not say it is a short period either. If I could have the honor to be employed by your
company, it will be the first company I work after my graduation. No mater,.., no matter…, I could
learn countless things gradually which will be quite valuable to me and be treasured. I do not
want to say any dreams I have for the next few years, but I think I will be loyalty to the company
and give my best shot to make contribution to the company.
28. To what do you owe your present success?
There are so many people, like every professor who once taught me, my friends who bring my
happiness. But the most important people I will owe to is my parents. Because they are the people
who give me the life to let me experience all these happiness, all these achievement. They are also
the people who usually sacrifice themselves, but for me.
29. When you take on a project do you like to attack the project in a group of individually?
Oh Yeah, I really love to work in a group when working on project rather than doing on my own.
Because, first, it easy to brainstorm when working in a group. Sometimes I could only come up
with some simple ideas and even I have no any idea to extend my point, but working in a group
could give me inspirations and easy for me to come up with idea. Also working in a group each
time could make me deal problem with people with different personality, I think that is one of the
most important points you have to learn to survive in this competitive society.
30. What industry besides this one are u looking into?
I am still look into Media or communication. Because personally I think I am quite talkative, I
love talk with people. Because talking could make me relief those pressures I have and share my
experience with others. Also I love smile, so I think I could be easily to establish a good
appearance in front of public. But the reason why I didn’t pursue it finally is because I do not
think it is a quite stable job, since you have to move from one place to the other place to report,
also I think they media community is bit disordered since lots of gossip around you and your
personal information will be easily disclosed.
31. What is your GPA? How do you feel about it? Does it reflect your abilities?
My GPA is US is 4 out of 4 and my GPA so far in HK is 3.3 out of 4. I am bit satisfied with my
GPA, because the things I accept here is like much harder than what I had in USA, so even it is
lower, I am quite satisfied. I do not think I could reflect my real abilities, since I am not the person
that put GPA in the most important point. I prefer to get a GPA 3 out of 4 but spend more time
with friends, and join some activities like volunteer program and model United Nations to enhance
my other abilities rather than achieving 4 out of 4 and spend time on academic book all the time.
Because to survive in this society, academic performance only occupy a little percentage. Some
others like interpersonal skills are still paramount.
32. What is your personal life situation?
I was raised in a peaceful family where my mom is an account while my Dad is a engineer. I
could not say how well situation my family is, but luckily I do not need to suffer from poverty. I
joined a international school in Beijing for elementary school, then my family move to United
States. I am appreciating all those conditions my parents prepared for me, but I also know how to
be independent and how to repay them when I grow up. My mom is a account in Bank of
America, and she inspire me lots, I want to pursue her footprint and make some achievement in
business areas.
33. With which other companies are u interviewing?
Actually you are the only firm I applied right after my graduate, so you are the only company
who I got interview. Because I just graduate and I am not quite familiar with the society right now.
34. What type of position are u seeking? I
I am seeking a positions like management trainee just as required by your company, since I am
just graduate from University and I do not have that much trainee, so I want to be a trainee, in that
way I could learn as much as I could. And management personally is a area that summarize all
those business fields like fiancé and economics, so working a management trainee do not need me
face a single area every single day, but almost everything, it is challenge but I could learn obtain
more knowledge. Also in management, I think I have to communicate with peoples. I love
communication with peoples and I also think I have a good interpersonal skills.
35. What are your salary expectations?
I am just graduate from University and I am not that experienced and professional, so I do not
require a high salaries. I respect the salary you offered if only it is reasonable. And I am sure their
will be promotion if I work well later.
36. What challenges are u looking for in a position?
At present. my largest challenges is that i am still new here, so I am not quite familiar with the
way how the whole companies operate, also even I will read the policy the company set out, but I
do not quite know how to put out into reality. But as more communication with other co-workers
and deal with more problem, I will get myself used to gradually.
37. What goals have u set for yourself? How are u planning to achieve them?
Be more familiar with the way how this company operate by more communicate with other co-
workers and deal with more problem. Be more familiar with the competitors like you state in your
company introduction those big four. I going to to achieve them by enhance my personal skill like
attending extra courses and make more contribution to the company and appeal more customers
and compete fairly with others and help you bring your image come to every customer which is
the world’s local CPA firm.
38. What are your team-player qualities? Give examples>
They both have some aspect that I really appreciate. I think Eva Lin is quite diligent and quite
work hard. I could always see her spend time in library and work on the courses. I once worked
with her in a project, before each meeting she will do lots preparation and bring us what she did,
she is the one who commit herself the most in the project without any complaint,. Anki Chan is
quite smart and she had a pretty good analytical skills. Each time when we work on the projects
together, it could be pretty easy for her to bring some creative and practicable ideas, and she
always help us find out the point we are supposed to illustrated. \
39. What have the experience on your resume taught you about managing and working with
people?
Apparently my four years university experiences have foster me the ability to managing and
working with people. Like lot of the projects we worked on, I were leaders of the group for several
times, so it enhance my ability to deal with people, and the situation…..
Second is my bank internship experience, because I worked with my boss and observe him how to
deal with customers, especially some people who could complain about our bank.
40. What motivates you?
First is Interest, just as because I have interest in business, so I got motivate to study the courses
even though I will encounter lots of difficulties frequently. But I will stick up with it since I have
interest.
Second is the faith in myself, because each time when I confront with those difficulties, I will tell
myself I could handle, no reason that other people could handle but I am not. So I will insist on
that and solve it through different way.
41. What turn you off?
I think all those scandals and gossip things could really turn me off. Because it is something not
only about other people privacy but about showing respect to others. I think say something that
may happen or may not happen about others is totally disrespect, Disrespect others at some point
is disrespect yourself.
42. Why are you interested in our organization and why do you feel that this company will be a
career for you rather than a job?
I am interest in choosing your company because I could get opportunity to advance my career with
room to move up. And the most important, my family had been a customer of your company for a
really long time and we enjoyed the good experience to deal with your company, so I would love
to be a part of what I have been seen as an excellent team and great work environment.
43. Accounting and Management?
I think management is the business area that sum up all the other business activities like
accounting and finance. And it organizes people get together to achieve desire goals. Working in a
management field could make me focus on lots stuff not only just limited to accounting and
finance which could make me more interested. Since I still courses in University like management
and market, so I think I am qualified to work in this area. Also I would like to enjoy the moments
when I organize people together and work together to get success.

Because I think the basic requirement to manage other is letting them to have good faith in you.
How to let them have faith in you is that you are quite professional in something that could make
them trust you, so I tried to focus on one major to make me better be trusted.

44. Why you choose Hong Kong?

To come over to Hong Kong to have my college have been my dreams for more than 10 tens since
my first coming over. I really love the dynamic side of this city, which could foster me more
energetic and more vigorous. I also love the culture of this city which combines both oriental and
occidental culture. I love the freedom that every one could show their ideas toward governments.
Also I think HK is bridge that connect Western country and mainland china, even other part of
Asia. It is the international finance center that could give me more chances.

45. Why wont choose US?

I love US, but I always hold a belief that each country will experience its economic booming
period which could last for a really long time, but it will come to recession after reaching its peak
Everyone witness how developed and fantastic US is in the past 50 years, but right now no matter
how the policies changes, how the attitude the government changes, or how the policies toward
other countries changes, it still can not stop the recession happened in US. While in HK, it is
different.
