Grenelle de l’Environnement et Plan Bâtiment en France, Paquet Energie-Climat en

Europe, révision du Protocole de Kyoto, changement de politique des Etats-Unis…
le développement durable et la réduction des émissions de gaz à effet de serre sont
désormais au cœur des politiques nationales et internationales.

Selon le 2ème rapport du WBCSD*, présenté au printemps 2009, les bâtiments sont
responsables de 40% de l’utilisation de l’énergie mondiale, et cette consommation
pourrait être réduite de 60 % d’ici à 2050.

Que ce soit pour la rénovation ou les constructions neuves, les objectifs de

maîtrise de l’énergie dans le bâtiment ne pourront pas être atteints sans l’adhésion
et la participation active des architectes.

Face aux évolutions réglementaires, technologiques et aux nouvelles exigences

des maîtres d’ouvrage, comment évolueront la construction et la réhabilitation
durables au XXIème siècle ?

The Grenelle de l’Environnement [the French environment initiative] and the Construction
Plan in France, the Energy-Climate Package in Europe, the revision of the Kyoto Protocol,
the change of policy in the United States… sustainable development and the reduction
of greenhouse gas emissions are now at the heart of national and international policy.

According to the second report of the WBCSD*, presented in the spring of 2009,
buildings are responsible for 40% of global energy use and this consumption could be
reduced by 60% between now and 2050.

Whether it be renovation or new builds, energy saving in buildings is not something

that can be achieved without the active participation of architects.

Given developments in regulations, technologies and the new demands of developers,

how will sustainable construction and renovation evolve in the 21st century?

 LE PAVILLON DE L’ARSENAL, PARTENAIRE DE BATIMAT 2009
Créé en 1988, le Pavillon de l’Arsenal, Centre d’information, de documentation et
d’exposition d’Urbanisme et d’Architecture de Paris et de la métropole parisienne,
est un lieu unique où l’aménagement de la ville et ses réalisations architecturales
sont mis à la portée de tous. Au moment où les questions urbaines constituent
l’un des enjeux majeurs du développement métropolitain, il est essentiel qu’elles fassent l’objet d’une
présentation pédagogique, attractive et génératrice de débats, permettant au citoyen de se situer au cœur
du processus de la création architecturale et urbaine.
Expliquer « l’architecture » de la métropole parisienne, sa constitution à travers les siècles, son état actuel,
ses perspectives d’évolution et présenter à l’étranger le savoir faire urbain de la ville sont les missions
majeures du Pavillon de l’Arsenal.

THE PAVILLON DE L’ARSENAL, PARTNER FOR BATIMAT 2009

Founded in 1988, the Pavillon de l’Arsenal is an information, documentation and exhibition centre for town
planning and architecture in Paris and the surrounding region. It is a unique venue where city developments
and architectural projects are presented to all who are interested. At a time when urban questions represent
one of the major development challenges for the Parisian metropolis, it is essential that they are presented
in an informative and attractive way that stimulates debate and that allows the citizen to play a central role
in the process of architectural and urban creation.
Explaining the “architecture” of Parisian metropolis, the way it has developed over the centuries, its current
state and prospects for future development, and presenting the urban know-how of the city abroad are the
primary missions of the Pavillon de l’Arsenal.

The Architecture = Sustainable exhibition presented at the Pavillon de l’Arsenal

ARCHITECTURE = DURABLE
« La prise en compte d’une éthique environnementale est une formidable opportunité de renouvellement
de l’architecture : l’occasion d’explorer de nouvelles pistes techniques et esthétiques et de repenser le lien
avec la ville » Jacques Ferrier, Architecte et Commissaire de l’Exposition.
L’exposition Architecture = Durable, créée par le Pavillon de l’Arsenal, donne la parole à 30 architectes qui,
au travers de projets menés en Ile-de-France, expriment leur démarche et leur manière de concevoir
l’architecture face aux enjeux du développement durable. Des interviews filmées exclusives et des
panneaux expliquent ces 30 projets et ouvrent des pistes de réflexion, d’innovation et des horizons pour
la conception des villes et des bâtiments de demain.
En 2009, BATIMAT accueille cette exposition au sein du Pavillon 7.3, tandis que les interviews seront
diffusées en alternance avec les présentations des architectes de la Conférence Internationale « Architecture
et Développement Durable ».

ARCHITECTURE = SUSTAINABLE
“The integration of an environmental ethic is a wonderful opportunity for the renewal of architecture: it is an
opportunity to explore new technical and aesthetic lines and to rethink the link with the town”, Jacques
Ferrier, architect and director of the exhibition.
The Architecture = Sustainable exhibition created by the Pavillon de l’Arsenal provides a stage for
30 architects who have demonstrated their approach and their conception of architecture faced by the
challenges of sustainable development through projects realized in the Ile-de-France. Exclusive filmed
interviews and panels explain these 30 projects and suggest lines of thought and innovation, and prospects
for the conception of the towns and buildings of tomorrow.
In 2009, BATIMAT will host this exhibition (Pavilion 7.3), whilst the interviews will be broadcast in between
presentations by architects at the international “Architecture and Sustainable Development” conference.
