Statement delivered today by First District Attorney Steven E. Gagne:

Due to the pending charges against the three other individuals charged in connection with this case, our comments must
be limited at this time, and we cannot field any questions at the conclusion of these remarks. However, we do anticipate
that District Attorney David E. Sullivan will be available for expanded comments, as well as a question-and-answer
session, at the conclusion of tomorrow’s proceedings.

First and foremost, we would like to emphasize that today’s proceedings would not have been possible without the
exceptional strength, patience and capacity for compassion exhibited by the O’Brien-Prince family. These resolutions
were reached only after thorough consultation with the family, and have their approval and support.

By admitting that they engaged in criminal harassment toward Phoebe Prince, these two defendants have publicly
accepted responsibility for their actions, and have been held accountable. Today’s proceedings signify that bullying and
harassment will not be tolerated in our schools; and when it rises to the level of criminal conduct, as it did in these two
cases, those responsible will be prosecuted.

At the conclusion of tomorrow’s proceedings in the Franklin-Hampshire Juvenile Court, District Attorney Sullivan will
conduct a press conference at 4:30 p.m. inside the Massachusetts Room within the Mullins Center at UMass-Amherst.
Again, due to the pending charges against those scheduled to appear in court tomorrow, we cannot comment further at
this time. Thank you.

In Hampshire Superior Court today, Wednesday, May 4:

Sean Mulveyhill, who had been charged with a Civil Rights Violation Resulting in Bodily Injury; Criminal Harassment;
Disturbing a School Assembly; and Statutory Rape, pleaded guilty to the charge of Criminal Harassment; the other
charges were dismissed.

Judge Jeffrey Kinder accepted the plea and the joint recommendation for one year of probation, with the standard
conditions of probation, plus these conditions:

-An order to have no contact with the victim’s family unless the family consents.
-100 hours of community service to assist underprivileged or at-risk youth.
-No financial profiting from this case while on probation.
-Must attain his GED or high-school diploma.

Kayla Narey, who had been charged with a Civil Rights Violation Resulting in Bodily Injury; Criminal Harassment; and
Disturbing a School Assembly admitted to sufficient facts for the Criminal Harassment charge; the other charges were
dismissed.

Judge Jeffrey Kinder accepted her admission and the joint recommendation for one year of probation, with the standard
conditions of probation, plus these conditions:

-An order to have no contact with the victim’s family unless the family consents.
-100 hours of community service to assist underprivileged or at-risk youth.
-No financial profiting from this case while on probation.
