Subject: Digital Electronic Circuits Class: III SEM EE

Objectives:

1. Understanding the definition of Combinational and sequential logic circuits,


SOP, POS concepts, Simplify the Boolean equations by Boolean postulates, K-
maps, Quine McCluskey technique and MEV method.
2. To know the signed and unsigned number representation, binary codes,
Boolean arithmetic (2’s complement subtraction). Designing of adders and sub
tractors, parallel adders and realization using logic gates.
3. To learn the designing of decoder and encoders. Multiplexer (MUX) ICs and
realization of Boolean equations using decoders and MUX.
4. Difference between combinational and sequential circuits and basic sequential
elements like latches and flip-flops. Implantation of counters and registers using
various types of flip-flops.
5. Difference between mealy and Moore models and its state machine notation.
Designing of counters and construction of state diagrams.
Outcomes:

1. Able to analyze and design combinational logic circuits using basic and universal
gates. Simplify Boolean equations using different techniques.
2. Designing of parallel adder and carry look ahead adder. Designing of differentiate
the functions of encoder and decoder.
3. To distinguish combinational and sequential circuits. To design counters using
flip-flops like SR, JK, T and D flip-flop.
4. Understanding and analyzing the mealy and Moore models. To derive state
machine notations of mealy and Moore models.
5. To design counters and there state diagrams.
Subject: Integrated Circuits and Applications Class: IV SEM EE

Objectives:
The students will learn
1. Differential amplifier fundamentals, Basic characteristics of an op-amp
2. To understand the need for closed loop configuration, different closed loop
configuration. Detailed study of voltage feedback op-amps.
3. Effects of input offset voltage, input bias current, input offset current, Thermal
drift on the output of the op-amp. Frequency response of the op-amp, causes of
slew rate and effect of slew rate in applications.
4. Application of op-amp as amplifiers, converters, Integrator, differentiator, Peak
detectors, working principle of precision half and full wave rectifiers and peak
detectors, sample and hold circuit.
5. Application of op-amp as filters (HPF, LPF, All pass filters), Working principle
of oscillators, classification.
6. Generation of various signals by op-amp circuits.
7. Applications of specialized ICs like IC9400, IC566.
8. Working principle of Dc voltage regulators.

Outcomes:
The student will be able to
1. Analyze and design the op-amp circuits and find response of circuits in terms of
frequency.
2. Design the circuits to process the signals.
3. Design non-linear circuits of op-amp such as zero crossing detectors, Schmitt
trigger and multivibrator.
4. Design the op-amp circuit to generate the triangular and square waves.
5. Analyze the 1st, 2nd order low and high pass filters.
6. Able to understand the applications of specific op-amp ICs and Design the op-
amp circuit to regulate the DC voltage.
