* Directly responsible for the upgrade from Novell 2.5 to Windows NT Server and
all Windows Back Office applications. Researched and approved purchase of new n
etwork equipment (Nortel) to replace old token ring network. Established new co
nnection to remote buildings using point-to-point connections and fiber optics t
o building across parking lot. New connections allowed for improved communicati
ons between the design department, sales support, and order entry to main corpor
ate offices using both PC and Apple Macintosh computers.
* Supervised the roll-out of 120 new desktop PC to replace old terminals connect
ing to multiple back office AS/400 mid-range computers and all TWINAX connection
s. PCs configured with Windows 98 and Windows Office applications as well as te
rminal emulation software to connect via TCP/IP to multiple AS/400
* Established new Internet connection with local ISP. Implemented Raptor Firewa
ll on Sun Solaris workstation. Configured and maintained new corporate e-mail s
ystem using Microsoft Exchange.
* Designed and implemented new nation-wide VPN solution to allow remote sales re

llowing sales reps to have real-time access to inventory reports.
